The weight of years of harassment, especially when you sense demonic influence driving those who come against you, is not a small thing. It wears you down, and it’s no wonder you cry out. The Psalms give voice to that very groan: “Why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?” You are not alone in that cry, nor is it faithless to bring it honestly before the Lord. He hears.
What matters now is where your eyes land in the middle of it. The same psalmist who asked why also prayed, “O send out your light and your truth; let them lead me.” When the darkness of spiritual oppression crowds in, the only sure anchor is God’s revealed truth. His word becomes your shield and buckler, exactly as Jesus used Scripture to deflect the attacks of the enemy. When the lies and harassment echo around you, let His truth speak louder. The enemy may seek to wear you down, but the mouth of the Lord gives you a foothold no demonic scheme can overturn.
Do not underestimate the power of dwelling in the secret place of the Most High. That is not a physical hideout, since these are spiritual realities, no locked door can shut them out, but it is the shelter of abiding fellowship with God. He promises to deliver from the snare of the fowler. The fowler sets hidden traps, just as these harassments come at you through human instruments, often catching you off guard. But the Lord knows every snare, and His faithfulness is the shield around you.
I am praying with you for removal, for the Lord to rise up and redeem you for His mercy’s sake. Yet more than a change in your circumstances, I am asking Him to let you know the unshakable peace of His presence right in the storm. Remember that the demonic realm fears only one thing: the authority of Jesus Christ. When the legion of spirits begged Him not to send them into the abyss, they were pleading before the One who holds ultimate power over their destiny. That same Lord lives in you, and greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
Humble yourself under His mighty hand. Cry out as the psalmist did, but then lift your chin and put your trust not in your own stratagems or strength, but in His deliverance. He has not forgotten your affliction. He will send out His light and truth to lead you to a firm place.
