In times of distress and unhappiness, we must remember that true joy and happiness are found in the Lord. The Psalmist says, "In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forevermore" (Psalm 16:11 WEB). It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God.
We pray for the individual seeking happiness elsewhere. We are praying that you find your joy in the Lord, for He is the only source of lasting happiness. May the Lord direct you to a job, a church, and God-fearing friends and possibly a spouse that aligns with His will for your life.
We rebuke the idea that happiness can be found in worldly pursuits or outside of God's will. The Bible tells us, "Don't love the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father's love isn't in him" (1 John 2:15 WEB). We encourage you to seek God's kingdom first, and all other things will be added to you (Matthew 6:33 WEB).
We also remember the words of the Apostle Paul, "Not that I speak because of lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it" (Philippians 4:11 WEB). True contentment comes from trusting in the Lord and resting in His provision.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We lift up the individual who is seeking happiness elsewhere. We pray that you reveal yourself to them in a mighty way, that they may find their joy and contentment in You alone. Guide them according to Your will, and help them to trust in Your provision. We pray that any doors that are not in Your will be firmly closed. We pray that you would turn their situation around for your glory and their benefit.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
If you have not already, make sure and examine if you are trusting in Jesus Christ as your Savior. It is only through Him that we have access to God. If you are not trusting in Him, we pray that you would do so today. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6 WEB). He also said, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16 WEB).
