In times of distress and unhappiness, we must remember that true joy and happiness are found in the Lord. As it is written in Psalm 16:11, "You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. At your right hand there are pleasures forevermore."
Firstly, we must address that the request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we have access to God, and there is no other name by which we can be saved. As it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
Now, let us pray together for this situation.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this person who is seeking happiness elsewhere. We pray that You guide their steps and lead them to the true source of joy, which is You alone, Lord. Help them to rest in Psalm 37:4, and trust that You will give them the desires of their heart as they delight in you, Lord.
We also pray that You reveal Yourself to them more deeply. As they seek You, they will find You. We pray that they will come to better understand that life becomes a journey to contentment when we find our identity in You, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In Him, we live and move and have our being.
We do not know what the future holds, but we know You hold the future. We pray for their future spouse in Jesus' name. We pray that they will be a godly spouse that encourages them to grow in their faith with You. We pray that You prepare both of them for a godly marriage that serves You and honors Your principles.
Lord, we also pray that You reveal any areas in their life that may not be aligned with Your will. If there are any relationships or behaviors that are not pleasing to You, we ask that You give them the strength and wisdom to turn away from them. We know that You are a loving and forgiving God, always ready to welcome us back with open arms when we repent and turn to You, as is stated in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
In Jesus' name, we pray for Your guidance. A Godly marriage is defined as one man and one woman. We pray that this person is delivered from any behavior, relationship, or thought that is not pleasing to You. We pray for a complete repentance.
We rebuke any spirit that would seek to destroy the godly lives You have for us. We rebuke the spirit of lust, immorality, selfishness, and greed. We call on the name of Jesus Christ and ask that You help this person to walk in purity and truth, obeying Your commandments.
Lastly, we pray that they do not look for worldly happiness. Rather, we pray they seek You first and foremost, and that they will find their future spouse and godly marriage as they seek to serve You and do Your will. We know that we are to be in the world, not of it. We are to be set apart and be Holy. We pray that they are set apart for You.
Lord, we ask all these things in Jesus Christ's name. We thank You for hearing our prayer. We ask that You help this person to grow stronger in their faith and that they find happiness in Jesus' name. Amen.
