I keep hearing the term "PURE EVIL," especially from the Republican party, in describing the, unnecessarily, overwhelming mass shootings that continue to plague this nation; and while it is, indeed, evil which drives an individual to commit murder and other crimes that victimize innocent people, it is the overriding mindset of "arrogant denial," and the demand to have it our way, despite the lives that stand in jeopardy. That kind of thinking, only perpetuate the madness; especially against those who are most vulnerable among us, children. Shame on any leader who would place the love of monetary contributions, from the likes of the NRA; and, an "adult's," self-ascribed right to bear arms, above a child's, God given right to life. That's a whole other level of insidious, selfishness.
IT’S TIME TO CHANGE GUN LAWS
We can continue to rush to judgment, in blaming these deadly massacres on mental illness, but the truth is, while mental illness may have been a contributing factor, in this case, it did not cause the carnage, left in the midst of the hail of bullets, sprayed from the, “weapon of choice,” a gun, utilized by the assailant. A weapon, specifically chosen, to cause maximum damage, to innocent, unsuspecting victims, while the shooter, himself, cowardly, stood at a safe distance.
Murder is evil, but we can’t simply dismiss it as “the devil made him do it.” Evil, arguably, is a form of mental illness. But, extenuating factors must be addressed, beginning with the most obvious, the common denominator in the overwhelming number of massacres, befallen us, GUNS; and the laws surrounding them. It’s time to stand against the foolish arguments that proclaim “guns don’t kill people, people kill people,” and stand up for justice on behalf of our children.
I believe the real mental illness rest with those who continue to uphold laws that permit 18 yr. olds, who can't even, legally consume alcohol, the legal right to purchase assault weapons. With the exception of our military and law enforcement, what could ANYONE, possibly need with an assault weapon? Perhaps lawmakers expect the loved ones, of those who were murdered, to take solace in the fact that, at least, the gunman wasn't drunk. Perhaps those who are surrounded by security and shielded from bullets, inside armored cars, are likewise, shielded from the realities of the devastation and destruction caused by guns. PURE EVIL.
THE TEARS ARE REAL
Commentary: I must say, as with all of the recent shootings, I do find the timing and lack of identifying data on these individuals, somewhat, suspicious. I mean, I slept in a hospital emergency waiting room, no one was hurt, let alone, killed, yet, I was thrown in jail, and had to face a judge. Who are these people that seem to pop-up out of nowhere? and, how are they acquiring, even amassing assault weapons? It all just seems too conveniently packaged.
STAY FOCUSED.
