Guidance to relationship

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Asking for God's will to happen in my relationship with my fiancé. It's been a very difficult time and he's probably making a decision about whether we should stay together or not tomorrow. I ask that God gives him wisdom snd strength to make the right decision. Asking that God's perfect will happens in both of our lives and asking for strength and faith in this difficult time.

We join with you in seeking God's perfect will for your engagement and for both of your lives in this very difficult and uncertain time, and we lift you up together before the throne of grace in Jesus' name.

We hear your desire for God's will to be done above your own, and that is the right heart to have. We are reminded that if any of us lacks wisdom, we can ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach and it will be given to us James 1:5. We pray that your fiance will seek the Lord with his whole heart tomorrow and that God will grant him clarity, wisdom, and strength to make the decision that honors God and aligns with His perfect plan. We also pray for you, that God will guard your heart with His peace and strengthen your faith while you wait.

We encourage you to trust in the Lord with all your heart and not to lean on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. Even when a relationship feels fragile and painful, we can trust that for those who love God, all things work together for good for those who are called according to his purpose Romans 8:28. His plans for you are for peace and not for evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. If God's will is for this engagement to move forward into marriage, then He will make that clear and will equip you both to build a Christ-centered union. If His will is to close this door, He will also do so in a way that ultimately protects and prepares you both for what is best, even though it brings sorrow now.

As you are in this courtship unto engagement, we want to encourage you biblically about this season. We believe marriage is a sacred lifelong covenant between a man and a woman designed by God, and engagement is a solemn promise moving toward that covenant. It is meant to be entered into by two believers in Jesus Christ, for we are told not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers 2 Corinthians 6:14. We encourage you both to examine whether you share a genuine, living faith in Christ and a mutual desire to honor Him in your future marriage. We also exhort you in love to honor God with purity in this time. If there has been any sexual intimacy outside of marriage, scripture calls us to turn from it, for marriage is to be held in honor among all and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4. To flee from fornication and to keep yourselves pure until you become one in marriage is to honor God, to honor one another, and to lay a foundation without regret. If this is an area of struggle, we encourage you to confess it to the Lord, repent, and commit to purity from this day forward.

We also noticed your request speaks of God and God's will but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly address this because it is so important. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. To pray for God's will and to truly know His will, we must come through faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and trusting Him as Lord and Savior. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus today, and to ensure your relationship is built upon that shared foundation of salvation in Him.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You for our sister and her fiance. Lord, You know the heaviness of this moment and the decision that lies before him tomorrow. We ask that You grant him supernatural wisdom, courage, and peace to do what is right in Your eyes. Remove confusion and fear, and make Your will unmistakably clear to them both. Father, we pray Your perfect will be done in both of their lives, whether that means reconciliation and a stronger, purer path toward godly marriage, or a painful but necessary parting that You will redeem for good. Strengthen our sister's faith, calm her anxious heart, and help her to cast all her anxiety on You because You care for her 1 Peter 5:7. Let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. Lead them both to honor You in body, mind, and spirit, and to seek godly counsel as they discern the future. We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to spend this time in prayer and in the Word, to seek wise counsel from mature believers or a pastor, and to continue to surrender the outcome to the Lord. Whatever tomorrow brings, God will not leave you nor forsake you Deuteronomy 31:6, and He is faithful to carry you through.

We can hear how heavy this waiting feels, especially with such an important conversation coming tomorrow. Wanting God's will above your own preference, even when it is painful, is a hard and faithful place to stand, and we admire your honesty in asking for it.

It is understandable to feel torn between hoping for reconciliation and wanting to surrender the outcome to Him. Waiting for someone else's decision can leave you feeling powerless, and it makes sense that you are asking for strength and steady faith right now.

One thing that may help tonight is to give this time a clear shape. Find a quiet moment to tell the Lord plainly what you hope for and what you fear, and to surrender both your future and your fiance's decision to His care. If you have a trusted pastor or mature friend, let them know tonight so they can be praying with you and be available to talk after tomorrow, whatever happens. Having that support ready can keep you from carrying this alone.

Father, we lift this couple to You in Jesus' name. Give wisdom and clarity to her fiance as he considers this decision, and give her peace, strength and steady faith as she waits. Lead them both according to Your perfect will and guard their hearts with Your nearness in the days ahead. Amen.

Your request has been laid before the Lord with care, and we join you in asking that His perfect will be done in both your lives.

There is great wisdom in the way you have prayed, for you have not demanded your own way but have asked for God's will. As surely as God's will is the axle of the universe, so His will must be the axle of our lives. It is foolish for any of us to say, we will go, we will do, we will keep or we will break, as though we could both propose and dispose without asking God's consent. The man who says I will, as though his will were stronger than omnipotence, forgets that salvation and all good rest upon what God wills. Our comfort is that God has not left us to guess at His will, for while many of His purposes are hidden, there is a revealed will in Scripture which we must not violate.

In this difficult hour when a decision hangs over tomorrow, seek that revealed will first. God's perfect will for a man and a woman who contemplate marriage is plainly shown. It is salvation through Jesus Christ alone, and a marriage that is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, entered into in faith, in purity, and in the fear of the Lord. Sex and living together belong only within that covenant. Whatever is outside that holy order cannot have God's blessing, and we dare not ask Him to bless what His Word does not bless. Therefore pray not only that God would give wisdom for a decision, but that both of you would be willing to do whatever His Word requires, whether that be to go forward together in holiness toward marriage, or to step apart in obedience.

You ask for strength and faith, and here the promise meets you, they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. Human strength, whether of body or of mind or of affection, will spend itself and fail in due time. All strength apart from God is derived and measurable, and must come to an end. But if by an act of faith you who are human are linked with the Divine, your strength shall be renewed. The Lord Himself says, I will strengthen them in the Lord, and God never says I will without intending it. His promises are His purposes. Sometimes to be passive in the hand of God will be your strength, and to stand still until the cloudy and fiery pillar moves before you will be your highest wisdom. Do not rush to make a will of your own, but wait upon Him.

We pray for you and for ###, that the Holy Spirit, who works in us to will and to do of God's good pleasure, would make you both willing for what God wills. May He grant to ### wisdom and strength to act not from passion or pressure but from a clear conscience before God. May He grant to you faith to trust that no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly, and that He will come to your deliverance in the time of trouble. If you are His, your preservation and your future rest upon His will, not upon the uncertain will of man.

Take this season to seek the Lord together and separately in prayer and in the Word, and with godly counsel from those who hold Scripture as final. Ask, is this relationship built upon faith in Christ, does it honor purity, does it aim at that lifelong covenant as God has ordained. Be willing to obey whatever answer Scripture gives, trusting that God's royal will fulfilled is your best profit and your deepest joy.

May the Lord strengthen you in Himself, keep you in His peace, and fulfill His gracious will in you both for His glory.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing your heart and for asking for prayer in this difficult and uncertain time. It is good that you are asking for God's will to be done and for wisdom and strength, rather than simply asking for your own desires to be fulfilled.

Scripture teaches that the wisdom of God is far greater than the wisdom of people, and that true wisdom comes not from our own understanding or feelings but from Christ himself and the grace of the Holy Spirit. Human wisdom can be weak and easily mistaken, especially when emotions are strong and decisions feel urgent. God's wisdom is pure and trustworthy, and He has promised to give wisdom generously to those who ask Him in faith.

I am praying with you that God will give both of you clear wisdom, calm strength, and growing faith as you face tomorrow and the days ahead. I pray that you will both seek Him first, trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation and hope, and desire to honor Him above all else. If it is His will for you to be married, may that marriage reflect His design as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, entered into with purity, faithfulness, and a shared commitment to follow Christ together. If it is not His will for you to continue together, may He give you both the grace to accept His path with peace and to walk in holiness.

In this waiting, continue to bring your fears and hopes to the Lord in prayer, stay rooted in His Word, and seek wise counsel from faithful believers and a pastor who can walk with you personally. Ask God not only to guide the decision but to make you wise in the wisdom that is true, to strengthen you by His grace, and to keep your trust in Him whatever the outcome.

Father, I lift up this dear one and her fiance to You. Grant them wisdom that comes from above, strength for this hard season, and faith to trust Your perfect will. Lead them to what is holy and good in Your sight, guard them from what is not, and help them to honor You in their relationship and in their lives. May Your will be done and may You be glorified in both of their lives. In the name of Jesus, amen.

Seeing your heart to want God's perfect will above your own desires is the right place to begin, especially in such a difficult and painful waiting period as you face this decision.

Scripture shows that when we ask God for wisdom we are not simply asking for information to consider and then do what we want. True wisdom begins when we incline our ear to hear what God says and apply our heart to understand it, with a commitment already made to obey what He reveals. Solomon pleased the Lord because he did not ask for riches or honor but for wisdom to walk rightly before God, and God gave it to him. That wisdom is better than anything else we might desire. It is not the wisdom of this world, which often leads to envy and strife and comes to nothing, but the wisdom from above, which is pure and peaceable and leads to holiness and peace. As you and your fiance seek direction, ask the Lord together for that kind of wisdom from His Word and by His Spirit, and come to Him willing to follow wherever He leads, even if it is not what you had hoped.

This hard time is also a proving of your faith. God already knows what is in your heart, but trials reveal to us what kind of faith we have. Simply saying we believe is not enough, even the evil spirits believe that God exists. A genuine faith is shown by what it produces in our lives. Faith and obedience work together, as we see with Abraham. God had promised that through Isaac his offspring would be called, yet God asked him to offer Isaac. Abraham did not know how God would do it, but he trusted that God would keep His promise and he acted on that trust. In the same way Sarah, though past the age to have a child, received strength to conceive because she considered Him faithful who had promised. Your faith will sustain you through whatever you face tomorrow and beyond, not because you have strong feelings, but because you stand on the faithful Word of God. Feelings come and go, but God's promises remain true. The just live by faith, trusting day by day in the power of God rather than in human reasoning or persuasion.

Pray that both of you will build on that foundation. Seek the Lord in Scripture and in honest prayer, seek godly counsel, and walk in purity and holiness as you consider marriage. In the Bible marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and intimacy belongs within that covenant. True wisdom will always lead you toward what is pure and toward peace, not toward compromise. Let your decisions show the faith you profess.

May the Lord pour out His Spirit of wisdom upon you both, make His will clear, and give you strength to do it. May He give you a faith that endures, that judges Him faithful who has promised, and that is shown in obedient steps. May He guard your hearts with His peace as you trust Him with the outcome, knowing that He loves you and will lead you in the right path for His glory and your good.
