We hear your heart, dear sister, and we stand with you in prayer as you seek to use this platform for God’s glory. Your desire to bring awareness to bullying, especially having walked through that pain yourself, is a powerful testimony of how the Lord can redeem our suffering and turn it into a ministry of compassion. We rejoice that you want to honor Jesus in this endeavor, for it is His love and truth that will guide your steps.
First, we must address the nature of beauty pageants themselves. While your intentions are noble, we must examine whether such competitions align with biblical principles of modesty, humility, and the pursuit of inner beauty over outward appearance. Scripture warns us in 1 Peter 3:3-4, "Don’t let your beauty be just outward, with braiding your hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine clothing; but in the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God’s sight." We encourage you to prayerfully consider whether this platform is the most God-honoring way to advocate for this cause, or if there may be other avenues, such as speaking at schools, partnering with churches, or working with anti-bullying organizations, that could allow you to minister without compromise.
That said, if the Lord has clearly led you to proceed, we will pray for wisdom and discernment. Your platform is a worthy one, for bullying is a pervasive issue that wounds the hearts of many young people. The rise of cyberbullying has only deepened the pain, and we must address it with both truth and grace. Scripture tells us in Proverbs 31:8-9, "Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are left desolate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy." You have an opportunity to be a voice for those who feel voiceless, and we believe the Lord can use your story to bring healing and hope.
To proceed in a way that brings glory to Jesus, we encourage you to:
1. Ground your message in Scripture. Share how God’s Word speaks to our worth, identity, and how we treat others. Verses like Ephesians 4:29 ("Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear") and Matthew 7:12 ("Therefore whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them") are foundational.
2. Partner with godly mentors and organizations. Seek counsel from pastors, Christian educators, or anti-bullying ministries who can help you craft a biblically sound message and provide resources for those affected by bullying.
3. Use your testimony wisely. Your personal story is powerful, but it must point to Christ’s redemption, not just the pain. Share how the Lord sustained you, healed you, and gave you a heart to help others. Revelation 12:11 reminds us, "They overcame him because of the Lamb’s blood, and because of the word of their testimony."
4. Pray for the bullies as well as the bullied. It is easy to focus only on the victims, but bullies often act out of their own wounds. Pray for their hearts to be softened and for the cycle of hurt to be broken. Jesus calls us to love even our enemies (Matthew 5:44).
5. Be prepared for opposition. Not everyone will receive your message with open arms, especially if it challenges cultural norms or exposes sin. Stand firm in the truth, but do so with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15-16).
We also want to gently address the cultural pressures surrounding beauty pageants. The world often defines beauty by external standards, but God looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). If you proceed, we pray that you would do so with a spirit of humility, refusing to conform to worldly expectations of immodesty or pride. Let your focus be on shining Christ’s light, not on seeking the approval of judges or audiences.
Now, let us lift you up in prayer:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for this sister’s desire to serve You and bring awareness to the pain of bullying. Lord, we ask that You would give her clarity and wisdom as she seeks to honor You in this endeavor. If this pageant is not Your will for her, reveal that to her heart and guide her to a path that aligns with Your purposes. If You are calling her to this platform, equip her with boldness, discernment, and a message that points straight to Jesus.
Father, we pray for protection over her heart and mind. Guard her from the lies of the enemy that seek to distract her with pride, comparison, or fear. Fill her with Your peace and confidence in who she is in Christ. May her words and actions reflect Your love and truth, drawing others to You.
Lord, we ask that You would use her story to bring healing to those who have been bullied. Comfort the brokenhearted, restore the wounded, and break the chains of hurt that fuel bullying. Raise up godly mentors and advocates who can stand alongside her in this mission. May Your name be glorified in all that she does, and may many come to know You through her testimony.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who heals the brokenhearted and sets the captives free. Amen."
Sister, we encourage you to spend time in God’s Word and in prayer, seeking His face daily. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." The Lord has a plan for you, and we believe He will direct your steps if you seek Him first. If you proceed with the pageant, may it be a tool for His kingdom, not for worldly accolades. Stand firm in your faith, and let Christ be your ultimate prize.
