We hear your heart, dear brother, and we lift you up before the throne of grace with great compassion. It is not uncommon for even the most devoted followers of Christ to experience seasons of spiritual dryness, where the fire that once burned brightly now feels like embers. But take heart, this is not the end of your story, nor is it a reflection of God’s love for you, which remains steadfast and unchanging. The psalmist cried out in Psalm 42:1-2, "As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants after you, God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?" Even in his despair, he turned to the Lord, and so must you. Your longing for renewed passion is itself a sign of the Holy Spirit at work within you, drawing you back to the Father.
We rebuke the spirit of discouragement and apathy that has sought to dim your love for Christ. The enemy would love nothing more than for you to remain in this place of spiritual lethargy, but we declare that this is not your portion. James 4:8 reminds us, "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you." You have already taken the first step by acknowledging your need and crying out for help. Now, we encourage you to press into the Lord through prayer, worship, and the reading of His Word, even when it feels dry. Ask Him to reignite your heart, to remind you of the joy of your salvation, and to fill you afresh with His Spirit. Psalm 51:10-12 is a powerful prayer for this moment: "Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. Don’t throw me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation. Uphold me with a willing spirit."
Regarding the young woman you feel led to speak with, we first want to affirm that your desire to honor God in this area is commendable. It is right to seek His will and to trust Him with your emotions. Proverbs 3:5-6 instructs us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Before taking any steps, we encourage you to examine your heart and motives. Are you seeking a godly marriage that reflects Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33), or are you driven by loneliness, infatuation, or impatience? If your desire is for a wife who shares your faith and values, then we pray that the Lord would give you wisdom, courage, and the right words when the time comes. But if this is merely a distraction from your walk with God, we urge you to surrender it to Him and wait for His timing.
We also want to gently remind you that your worth and identity are found in Christ alone, not in the outcome of this situation. Whether this young woman is part of God’s plan for you or not, your calling remains the same: to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37). Do not let fear or insecurity hold you back from stepping out in faith, but do not let this desire consume you either. Philippians 4:6-7 says, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother, lifting him up to You in the mighty name of Jesus. Lord, You see his heart and know the struggles he is facing. We ask that You would pour out Your Holy Spirit upon him, reigniting the fire of his first love for You. Breathe new life into his spirit, O God, and remind him of the hope and joy found only in Christ. Where the enemy has sown lies, we ask that You would uproot them and replace them with Your truth. Where there is weariness, renew his strength. Where there is doubt, remind him of Your faithfulness.
Father, we also lift up this matter of the young woman he feels led to speak with. Give him clarity, wisdom, and discernment, Lord. If it is Your will for him to pursue this, grant him the courage to step out in faith, trusting in You every step of the way. If it is not Your will, prepare his heart to accept that and to continue seeking You above all else. Guard his heart from idolatry, impatience, or any ungodly motives. Let his actions and words always bring glory to You.
Above all, Lord, we pray that our brother would fix his eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of his faith. May he find his identity, purpose, and satisfaction in You alone. Surround him with godly community, fill him with Your Word, and let him experience the fullness of Your presence in this season. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word daily, even if it’s just a few verses. Meditate on passages like Psalm 119, which speaks of the beauty and power of God’s statutes, or Romans 8, which reminds us that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. Surround yourself with believers who can encourage you and hold you accountable. And remember, the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). You are not alone in this struggle, and your Heavenly Father is waiting with open arms to restore you. Keep pressing in, He is faithful!
