Beloved of All
Your heart for wanting the Lord to take the lead in this next season is exactly where He wants you to be. When everything ahead feels like a big question mark, it is right to ask Him to take the reins and guide your life through the future. That is one of the most personal things we can pray, that He would provide for us, forgive us, guide us, and deliver us, covering our past, our present, and our future.
Worry in that kind of season feels natural, but Jesus teaches that worry has no real value. He points us to the lilies of the field, how they grow without striving, and to the birds of the air, how your heavenly Father feeds them without their storing and fretting. If God so clothes the grass which is here today and so faithfully cares for the birds, how much more will He care for you. Faith and worry cannot live together. When we worry we reveal how small our faith has become in that moment, and when we trust, worry loses its place.
Most of our worry is not about today. Today you have food and clothing and breath. Worry fastens on tomorrow, on what will happen when the next decision must be made or the next bill comes due. That is why the Lord says not to worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself in His hands. He calls you instead to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that the other things you need will be added as He sees fit.
The cure for that fretting is trust. Scripture says to trust in the Lord and do good, and so you will dwell in the land and you will be fed. To delight yourself in the Lord, to commit your way to Him, to trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass. He will assemble it and make it stand. Those who put their trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, steady and not easily moved, while trusting in people or in our own precautions leaves us on shifting ground. It is not wrong to be careful and to make wise plans, but do not put your confidence in the plans themselves. Put your confidence in the Lord to keep you.
There will be moments when that trust is tested, especially when you cannot understand what God is doing. It is easy to trust Him when life is sweet and clear, but real trust is proved in the dark places, in suffering and in questions. When you trust Him there, even without answers, it brings praise to Him. He has been trustworthy from your youth until now, and He does not change. He knows your situation, He knows your limits, He loves you, and He will take care of you.
I am praying for you, that the Lord will make His guidance clear step by step, that He will guard and keep you, and that He will lift the weight of worry from you as you place it in His hands. May He give you a quiet confidence that your life is in His hands, that He will sustain you whatever the future holds, and that as you trust Him fully, your decisions will reflect His desires and His wisdom. May He lead you, provide for you, and let you rest in His faithful care.
