Proverbs 2:15 :
whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.

A Prayer for Proverbs 2:15: Our prayer:

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your word and for the gift of Your wisdom. LORD God, we recognize that there are influences and paths in this world that are crooked and deceptive. Guard our heart and mind from the ways of those who delight in darkness and turn away from Your truth.
Open our eyes to see through false facades, and grant us the discernment to recognize right from wrong. Let Your wisdom enter our heart and keep our steps steady. Be our shield and guide us daily along the straight and upright path of Your righteousness.
In Jesus' name, we pray.

Multitudinous Thoughts and Sacred Comforts
True peace comes from God’s comforts, which calm and delight the soul even amid overwhelming thoughts.
Trial by the Word
God’s word tests and refines his people through suffering to prepare them for greater service.
The Lamp
God’s word lights every part of life and calls you to let it guide your steps in joy and sorrow.
We join with you in this beautiful prayer and we say amen to your cry for wisdom and protection. We love how you have lifted up Proverbs 2:15 whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways. This verse reminds us that the world offers many paths that appear attractive but are bent away from truth, and only the wisdom of God can keep our feet from wandering onto them.

We take comfort that you have centered your prayer on Jesus as the Bread of Heaven and the Word of Life, for He is the true Word of God. As it is written in John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And Jesus Himself said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. When we abide in Him, we are not left to navigate crooked paths alone.

The Father delights to give wisdom to those who ask, and His wisdom does more than inform the mind, it guards the heart. Proverbs 2:10-11 says For wisdom will enter into your heart, knowledge will be pleasant to your soul, discretion will watch over you, understanding will keep you. That is our hope, that His truth would not just be knowledge we hold but a treasure planted deep within us that watches over us. We are also reminded in Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life, and in Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. It is His peace and His presence that stands guard over our hearts and minds.

We also cling to Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path. When darkness delights in deception and false facades try to confuse us, His Word exposes what is crooked and makes the straight path clear.

We pray together with you now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word and for the gift of Your wisdom so freely given to Your children. We thank You for Jesus, the living Word, who is our Bread of Heaven and our guide. Lord, guard our hearts and our minds from the ways of those who delight in darkness and who turn away from Your truth. Open our eyes to see through every false facade and every deceptive way. Grant us discernment to recognize right from wrong and give us courage to choose what is right. Let Your wisdom enter our hearts and be pleasant to our souls, let discretion watch over us and understanding keep us, and keep our steps steady on the straight and upright path of Your righteousness. Be our shield and our shepherd and guide us daily, that we would walk in Your light and not stumble. In the mighty and precious name of Jesus we pray, amen.

We are grateful you shared this prayer with us. Wanting your heart and mind guarded and your steps kept steady is a good and honest desire before the Lord, and we join you in it.

It makes sense to ask for discernment right now. Crooked paths rarely announce themselves as crooked. They often come through people and voices we encounter every day, and it can be hard to tell in the moment what is pulling us toward what is good and what is quietly pulling us away. Growing in wisdom is less about having instant answers and more about learning to see life from God's perspective over time, with humility and a willingness to test what we hear by its fruit.

One practice that has helped many who pray as you are is to keep a small circle of counsel close. When a teaching, opportunity, or influence leaves you unsettled, bring it honestly before the Lord in prayer and then talk it through with one or two mature believers you trust before you decide how to respond. That steady dialogue helps keep discernment from becoming just private worry.

Father, we lift up this heart to You. Guard and keep it, give clear discernment between what is true and what only appears so, and lead each step on Your straight and upright path. Fill this heart with Your wisdom and peace as You guide day by day. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

It is a wise and needful prayer you have brought before the Lord, and one which Scripture itself teaches you to pray. The paths of the wicked are indeed crooked and devious, and no man by his own wit can keep himself from them. Wisdom must come to us by revelation from God, for we cannot find it by our own efforts, and the chattering wisdom of this world is of no more account in discerning these crooked ways than the judgment of flies concerning an elephant.

You have asked aright, that wisdom should enter your heart and keep your steps steady. Hear what the Word declares, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding. This is the true compass by which a man is to steer across the trackless waste of life. To trust in God is true wisdom, and he who does so is kept from fatal delusion and from present fears, for the Lord becomes his shield.

There is a way of separation from the world and close walking with God, and no man ever suffered injury by keeping himself aloof from the ways of ungodly men, while no man ever failed to be a gainer by intimate fellowship with the Lord. Christ himself is the power of God and the wisdom of God, the Word by whom all things were made, who planned the way of salvation and who alone can give eyes to see through false facades and a heart to love what is upright.

Let us pray together for you.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word which is a lamp to our feet. We confess that apart from Your Spirit we are blind to the deceits of darkness. Grant to this dear soul the wisdom which comes from above, that the fear of the Lord may rule in the heart and that to depart from evil may be the constant understanding. Guard the heart and mind from every crooked path and from those who delight in darkness and turn away from truth. Open the eyes to discern right from wrong, and keep the feet in Your appointed ways, where Your angels have charge and Your protection is perpetual. Let Christ, who is the Bread of Heaven and the Word of Life, be the daily portion, that the steps may be steady and the walk upright before You.

We ask that You would be shield and guide, and lead daily along the straight path of Your righteousness, for Your glory. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our wisdom and our righteousness, Amen.
