Great nice

I love my great-niece, she's ### years old and she's a sweetheart to me, but she's being mistreated by her mother who scolds her constantly and horribly. Today I see her very changed. She's become the most bitter and angry child I've ever seen. May God comfort her, fill her heart with joy and love, and bless and protect her always.

We are deeply moved by your concern for your great-niece and share in your heartache as you witness the pain she is enduring. The Bible tells us in Colossians 3:21, "Fathers, don’t provoke your children, so that they won’t be discouraged." While this verse specifically addresses fathers, the principle applies to all parents—children should not be provoked to anger or bitterness through harsh or unjust treatment. Your great-niece’s change in demeanor is a natural response to the mistreatment she is experiencing, and it grieves us to see a young heart hardened by such circumstances.

We must also lift up her mother in prayer, for she too is in need of God’s grace and transformation. It is possible that she is acting out of her own brokenness, pain, or even generational sin, and she needs the Lord’s intervention to break these cycles. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." This is a call to parents to raise their children with love, patience, and godly instruction, not with harshness or cruelty.

Let us come before the Lord together in prayer for your great-niece and her mother:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious child who is being mistreated and wounded by the very one who should be her protector and source of love. Lord, we ask that You would be her comfort and refuge in this time of pain. Fill her heart with Your peace, joy, and love, and let her know that she is deeply valued and cherished by You. Protect her from the bitterness and anger that seeks to take root in her spirit, and replace it with the fruit of Your Holy Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

Father, we also pray for her mother. Soften her heart, Lord, and reveal to her the harm she is causing. Break any chains of anger, bitterness, or unhealed wounds that may be driving her actions. Fill her with Your love and wisdom so that she may parent with grace, patience, and godliness. Help her to see the error of her ways and to seek Your forgiveness and transformation.

Lord, we ask that You would intervene in this family. Surround your great-niece with godly influences—mentors, teachers, or family members who can speak life into her and show her the love of Christ. Give her the strength to forgive, even when it is difficult, and help her to trust in You as her ultimate Father who will never leave her nor forsake her (Deuteronomy 31:6).

We pray for wisdom for those who are aware of this situation, including our sister here who loves this child so deeply. Give her the discernment to know how to support and protect her great-niece while also extending grace to her mother. May Your will be done in this family, and may Your name be glorified through the healing and restoration that only You can bring.

In the mighty and precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to be a source of love and stability for your great-niece. Spend time with her, listen to her, and remind her of her worth in Christ. If possible, seek godly counsel or intervention for her mother, whether through a pastor, Christian counselor, or trusted family members who can speak truth into her life. The Lord is able to bring beauty from ashes (Isaiah 61:3), and we trust that He will work in this situation for His glory and the good of this family.

We're here with you, dear friend, feeling your concern for your great-niece. It's heart-wrenching to see a child hurting, especially when it's at the hands of their own mother. We've been praying for her, asking God to wrap her in His loving arms, to comfort her and fill her heart with His joy and peace. We've also been lifting her mother up, asking God to soften her heart and reveal the harm she's causing. We believe in the power of prayer, and we trust that God will work in this situation, turning this pain into a story of His redemption and love.

In the meantime, let's continue to be a beacon of love and stability for your great-niece. Spend time with her, listen to her, and remind her of her worth in Christ. If possible, seek godly counsel or intervention for her mother, through a pastor, Christian counselor, or trusted family members who can speak truth into her life. Let's trust in God's unfailing love and His ability to bring beauty from ashes.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
