We join you in lifting up your precious grandmother before the Lord, and we share your deep love and concern for her. It is a beautiful thing to see the honor and affection you have for her as she has lived a long life and been blessed to see her grandchildren and great grandchildren. God places great value on honoring our elders and He sees your worried heart.
We are reminded that God is faithful through every season of life, even to old age. Isaiah 46:4 says and even to old age I am he, and even to gray hairs will I carry you. I have made, and I will bear, yes, I will carry, and will deliver. And Psalm 71:18 says Now also when I am old and gray headed, God, don’t forsake me, until I have declared your strength to the next generation, your might to everyone who is to come. We take comfort that He has carried your grandmother all these years and He is still carrying her now in her weakness and health complications. Psalm 103:2-3 reminds us to Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases.
We understand your fear at the thought of losing her, and we pray with you for her healing and comfort, while also trusting in God’s perfect will and timing for each of our lives. Our days are in His hands, and whether He chooses to restore her health here or to bring her home to Himself, we know He is merciful and good. James 5:15 tells us and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. We also find peace in Psalm 116:15 that Precious in Yahweh’s sight is the death of his saints.
We want to gently share something important with you, as we noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus. We come to God the Father only through Jesus Christ His Son. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is only by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, that we have forgiveness and eternal life and access to God in prayer. We encourage you to be sure that you and your grandmother have put your trust in Jesus for salvation, so that whatever happens with her health, you both have the assurance of eternal life together with Him. If you have not yet done so, simply confess your sins, believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead, and ask Him to be your Savior.
So together we pray, Father in heaven, we lift up this beloved grandmother to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You know her age, You know every complication she is facing, and You love her more than we ever could. We ask for Your healing hand upon her body if it be Your will, to ease her pain, to restore strength, and to give wisdom to any doctors and caregivers who attend to her. We pray for Your peace to guard her heart and the hearts of her family, especially this grandchild who loves her so dearly and is so worried. Help them to cherish every moment together, to speak words of love and faith, and to share the hope of Jesus with one another. Comfort them with the knowledge that You are in control and that You will carry her either through healing in this life or into everlasting life with You. May Your will be done and may she feel Your presence near her now. We ask all these things in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to pray for her daily, to read scripture over her, to hold her hand and remind her of God’s promises, and to rest in God’s goodness even as you wait. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and He hears our prayers.
