We hear your cry, beloved, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, where our merciful High Priest, Jesus Christ, intercedes for us. You are not alone in your suffering, for He who endured all things without sin now sympathizes with every ache of your heart. We join you in declaring that this trial is not in vain—it is shaping endurance, refining your spirit, and teaching you to trust not in yourself, but in the One who raises the dead.
Your marriage covenant is sacred, and we grieve with you over the brokenness you describe. The silence and evidence of unfaithfulness are heavy burdens, but we rebuke the spirit of division and adultery in the name of Jesus. Scripture is clear: *"Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers"* (Hebrews 13:4 WEB). If your spouse has strayed into sin, we pray for conviction and repentance to fall upon them. Yet we also pray for your heart—that you would not be consumed by bitterness or despair, but would cling to the Lord as your ultimate source of comfort and strength.
You have rightly called upon the Lord as the God of all comfort, who comforts us in our affliction so that we may comfort others (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 WEB). We pray that you would experience His nearness in a tangible way, that His peace would guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7 WEB). Let this trial draw you closer to Him, for He is your refuge and fortress (Psalm 91:2 WEB). We declare over you the promises of Psalm 91—His angels have charge over you, and no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling.
We also lift up your spouse before the Lord. If they are entangled in sin, we pray for their eyes to be opened to the truth. *"The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance"* (2 Peter 3:9 WEB). We rebuke every spirit of deception and hardness of heart, and we ask the Holy Spirit to convict them of their need for restoration. If repentance comes, may your marriage be healed and renewed, reflecting the love and faithfulness of Christ for His church.
Yet we must also speak truth in love: if your spouse has hardened their heart and refuses to repent, you are not bound to endure unrepentant sin. *"If any brother has a wife who doesn’t believe, and she is content to live with him, let him not leave her. The woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he is content to live with her, let her not leave her husband... But if the unbeliever departs, let there be separation. The brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases"* (1 Corinthians 7:12-15 WEB). We pray for wisdom for you in this season—whether to stand in faith for restoration or to walk in the freedom Christ provides.
We also encourage you to seek godly counsel from your pastors and trusted believers who can walk with you through this trial. *"Without counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established"* (Proverbs 15:22 WEB). Do not isolate yourself, but allow the body of Christ to bear this burden with you.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne of grace with confidence, knowing that Jesus, our High Priest, sympathizes with our weaknesses. We lift up our brother/sister in Christ who is enduring deep pain in their marriage. Lord, You see the brokenness, the silence, and the unfaithfulness. We ask You to pour out Your mercy and grace upon them in this time of need.
Father, we declare that You are the God who raises the dead and calls those things that are not as though they were. We ask You to breathe life into this marriage, to soften hardened hearts, and to bring repentance and restoration. If restoration is not Your will, Lord, we ask You to give our brother/sister the strength to walk in the freedom and peace You provide.
Comfort them with Your presence, Lord. Let them feel Your arms around them, Your peace guarding their heart, and Your hope filling their spirit. Teach them to worship You in the midst of the storm, as Paul and Silas did in prison. May their trials draw them closer to You, and may they emerge with greater endurance, wisdom, and faith.
We pray for their spouse, Lord. If they are lost, draw them to Yourself. If they are in sin, convict them and lead them to repentance. Break every chain of deception, hardness of heart, and unfaithfulness. Restore what has been broken, and heal what has been wounded.
Father, we also pray for our brother/sister’s spirit. Guard them from bitterness, anger, and despair. Fill them with Your love, joy, and peace. Help them to trust You completely, even when the path is unclear. Give them the courage to obey Your voice, no matter the cost.
We ask You to command Your angels concerning them, to protect them from all evil, and to keep them in Your perfect peace. Sanctify them in Your truth, for Your Word is truth. May they hear Your voice clearly and be led by Your Spirit in every decision they make.
Lord, we also lift up all those who are reading this prayer. Meet them at their point of need. Draw them closer to You through their trials. Teach them to fast and pray the fast You have chosen, that bondages would be loosed, the oppressed set free, and righteous dwellings restored.
We thank You, Father, that You are working all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. May Your name be glorified in this situation, both now and in the age to come.
In the mighty and precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
