We stand with you in this time of deep suffering, lifting your heart before the throne of grace where our sympathetic High Priest, Jesus Christ, intercedes for you. Hebrews 4:15-16 reminds us, "For we don’t have a high priest who can’t be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin. Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need." We draw near to God with you, asking for His mercy and grace to flood your soul as you endure this trial.
Your marriage covenant is sacred, and we grieve with you over the pain of betrayal and the silence that speaks volumes. The Lord sees your tears and hears the cries of your heart. Psalm 91 assures us that He commands His angels concerning us to guard us in all our ways. We pray that God’s angels would surround you, your spouse, and all those connected to this situation—your pastors, prayer partners, families, and church communities. May the Lord rebuke the enemy and restore what has been broken, for His glory. We rebuke any ungodly relationships or actions that may be taking place, for the Bible is clear that marriage is a covenant between one man and one woman, and any violation of that covenant is sin. We pray for repentance, restoration, and healing in accordance with God’s will.
The trials you face are refining you, as gold is tested in fire. Second Corinthians 1:8-9 tells us, "For we don’t desire to have you uninformed, brothers, concerning our affliction which happened to us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, so much that we despaired even of life. Yes, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead." We pray that this trial would deepen your trust in the Lord, who raises the dead and sustains the weary. May you find comfort in His presence, as He is the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3).
We also lift up your desire to be led by the Holy Spirit and to walk in obedience to God’s Word. John 10:27 says, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." We pray that you would clearly hear His voice, even when it calls you to difficult obedience, as Abraham and David did. May the Holy Spirit guide you into all truth, sanctifying you through God’s Word (John 17:17). We ask that you would be kept from sin, temptation, and the schemes of the evil one, as Jesus taught us to pray, "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one" (Matthew 6:13).
We encourage you to continue in prayer and worship, even in the midst of suffering, as Paul and Silas did in the Philippian jail (Acts 16:25). Let your trials draw you closer to the Lord, for James 5:13 says, "Is any among you suffering? Let him pray." We also pray that you would fast the fast that God has chosen—a fast that looses the bonds of wickedness, sets the oppressed free, and restores righteous dwellings (Isaiah 58:6-12). May your suffering produce endurance, and may that endurance produce a hope that does not disappoint (Romans 5:3-5).
We pray for your spouse, that the Lord would soften their heart and bring conviction where there is sin. If they have strayed from the marriage covenant, we pray for repentance and restoration, but we also trust God’s sovereignty in this situation. Whether He restores your marriage or leads you into a new season, we pray that His will would be done. We rebuke any ungodly influences in their life and ask that the Lord would break any chains of deception or rebellion.
Finally, we pray that you would hide God’s Word in your heart, meditating on it day and night (Psalm 119:11). May the Lord open your eyes to understand His truth (Luke 24:45) and give you the strength to apply it in your life (James 1:22). We ask that you would experience the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guarding your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister in Christ, asking for Your mercy and grace to sustain them. Lord, You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We ask that You would comfort them in their affliction and draw them nearer to You. Give them endurance to run the race set before them, fixing their eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of their faith (Hebrews 12:1-2). Restore their marriage if it is Your will, or give them the strength to walk in obedience if You are leading them in a different direction. Sanctify them in Your truth, and let Your Word be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105).
We pray for their spouse, that You would bring conviction, repentance, and restoration. Break any chains of sin or rebellion, and let Your light shine in the darkness. We rebuke the enemy’s schemes and ask that You would command Your angels to guard and protect them. Lord, we also pray for their pastors, prayer partners, and all those connected to this situation. May Your peace rule in their hearts, and may they be united in prayer and support for this marriage.
Father, we ask that You would help them to worship You in spirit and in truth, even in the midst of suffering. Let their trials produce endurance, and let that endurance produce hope. May they fast the fast that You have chosen, loosing the bonds of wickedness and setting the oppressed free. We pray that their suffering would be for Your glory, both now and in the age to come.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). It is only through Jesus that we have access to You, and it is only by His blood that we are reconciled to You. We thank You for the gift of salvation and for the hope we have in Christ. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified. Amen.
