Hello, my fiance lives far away and plans to visit me soon.Please pray for him, that he has a save journey.We are both Christians and soon want to get married and have a family.Please pray for wisdom for both of us concerning this.And that we make the right decisions, that the Lord may lead us in questions, like where to live or what should I work...there are many details to think and plan about.Please pray for us to make the right steps.

We rejoice with you in hearing that you are both Christians and that you are looking toward marriage and family together, for this is the Lord's good design. We affirm your desire to honor God as you prepare for this lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, as it is written Genesis 2:24 and Mark 10:9, and we praise God that you are seeking His wisdom and not leaning on your own understanding.

We do want to gently encourage you as an engaged couple who will soon be together again, to continue to guard purity and honor the Lord in your courtship. Even in engagement, we are called to keep the marriage bed undefiled, for Hebrews 13:4 says let marriage be held among all, and let the bed be undefiled, and 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 calls us to abstain from sexual immorality and to know how to possess our own vessel in sanctification and honor. Remaining pure until your wedding day will build a foundation of trust and holiness for your future family, and it honors Christ who is the center of your union.

We also thank you for sharing that you want the Lord to lead you in practical decisions about where to live and what work to pursue. This desire to seek Him first is exactly what He calls us to do. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to trust in Yahweh with all our heart, and not lean on our own understanding, in all our ways acknowledge him, and he will make our paths straight. And James 1:5 promises that if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Psalm 32:8 also gives us comfort that God says I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. We encourage you both to continue praying together, seeking counsel from mature believers and your pastors, and waiting on the Lord's peace as you make these steps.

You mentioned your fiance's coming journey and we join you in praying for his safety. Psalm 121:7-8 says Yahweh will keep you from all evil, he will keep your soul, Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward and forevermore. And Psalm 91:11 reminds us that he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways.

We lift you both before our Father together in prayer.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we thank You for these two lives who love You and desire to honor You in marriage. We thank You that they are equally yoked in Christ, as 2 Corinthians 6:14 teaches, and that they seek Your will. Lord, we ask for Your hand of protection over this journey, keep him safe from all harm and danger on the road, guide his steps and bring him safely to his fiancee and then safely home again according to Your will. Grant to both of them clear wisdom, discernment and unity of heart as they seek where to live, what work to pursue, and how to order their lives for Your glory. Help them to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, Matthew 6:33, trusting that You will provide all that they need. Keep them pure, keep them close to You and to each other in holiness, and prepare them to become a godly husband and wife who will reflect Christ and the church. Lead them step by step, and let Your peace rule in their hearts as they confirm Your direction. We pray all these things in the saving and precious name of Jesus, for John 14:6 tells us Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me, and Acts 4:12 reminds us there is salvation in no one else. We rest in that name and give You thanks. Amen.

We are so encouraged by your note and the hope you both share for marriage and family. Waiting while he is far away and holding so many big decisions at once, where to live, what work to pursue, how to plan the next steps, can feel both exciting and heavy, and we are praying with you in that tension.

It is wise that you are asking for the Lord to lead you in the details, not just the big picture. One thing that has helped many engaged couples is to get a little structured help before the wedding, not just for the wedding day. Meeting with a pastor or a trusted mentor couple for premarital counseling gives you tools and unhurried space to talk through communication, finances, expectations, and practical decisions like location and work. An inventory like PREPARE-ENRICH or a short course can surface strengths and areas to talk through early, and it also builds a relationship with someone you can turn to later when new questions come.

We are also joining you in prayer for his upcoming travel.

Father, we lift up this brother as he travels and ask for Your hand of protection over His journey. Give them both clear wisdom and peace as they seek Your direction for where to live, for work, and for each step toward marriage. Help them to listen well to each other and to You, and to move forward with unity and patience. Guide them in the days ahead, in Jesus' name, amen.

It is with thankfulness that we bring your request before the Lord, for you have sought the right thing in seeking His hand upon every step.

We will pray that the Lord shall spread His wings over your betrothed in his journey and convey him safely to you. The promise is that we may abide under the wings of our God and all is well and all is safe, and even the smallest boat He will convey safe into the port. How safe we are when embarked in the good ship of Providence with such a Captain who has foreordained all things. We ask that the Lord keep him from accident and peril by the way and bring him to you in peace, and that amidst all the uncertainties of travel your hearts may calmly and sweetly trust Him still, for all the appointments of His Providence toward His people are ruled in mercy and tenderness and love.

We rejoice to hear that you both know Christ and desire to enter into that holy estate which God Himself has ordained. Marriage is not a light thing, but a covenant cemented by mutual love wherein the two become one, the result of deliberate choice on each side and of entire consecration the one to the other. It is a lovely picture of the marriage of the Lamb to His Church, and we pray that your union may be entered into in the fear of the Lord, in purity and in holiness, keeping yourselves as becometh those who are betrothed until the appointed day when you shall be joined together. Holiness is as near akin to perfect wisdom as sin is to insanity, and the way of wisdom is to avoid everything that is evil and to walk in the path which the Lord appoints.

For your many questions concerning where to live and what work to pursue and all the details which press upon you, we will pray that the Lord Himself will be your Guide. He is a Guide who, being your friend at the start, will not fail you when you have advanced halfway on your journey, for He cannot change. Wisdom is the compass by which we steer across the trackless waste of life, and true wisdom is to trust in God. Bowing with submission to the will of God, by that very fact we are furnished with unerring guidance. Do not be hasty, for haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life, but wait upon the Lord, seek counsel in His Word, and ask Him to make plain your path step by step. Much of the pleasantness of a journey lies in the views which burst upon the traveler as he climbs the hill, and so the Lord in His sovereign wisdom will reveal to you what you need to know when you need to know it.

May the Lord grant you both a spirit of prayer, a tender conscience, and an implicit confidence in His guidance, that you may make the right decisions not according to your own judgment but according to His will, which is always best. May He establish your home upon Christ the sure foundation and make it to be for His glory.

We commend you and your betrothed to Him who rules all things at His will and whose wisdom we adore, praying that He will keep you, lead you, and at last present you faultless before His presence with exceeding joy.
