We hear the deep hurt and loneliness in your heart in this moment, and we join with you in bringing it before the Lord. Feeling ignored by someone you love is painful, and the desire to cry, to be heard, to argue rather than be met with silence is very real. We want to pray with you and gently share what the Word of God says about love, communication, and where our ultimate hope rests.
We notice your request does not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and peace for our hearts. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not yet put your trust in Him, we encourage you to believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and confess Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. He is the One who never ignores us, who hears every cry.
God's Word shows us that true love is not demanding or manipulative, but patient and kind. Love is patient and is kind. Love does not envy. Love does not brag, is not proud, does not behave itself inappropriately, does not seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil. 1 Corinthians 13:4-5. When we say gonna cry hard or call me back, arguing is okay, we understand the desperation to feel connected, but we want to encourage you that using tears or conflict to compel someone to respond is not the pattern of godly love, and arguing for its own sake does not build up a relationship. Instead, A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1 and Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32. Healthy communication speaks the truth in love. Ephesians 4:15 and seeks peace.
We also want to speak biblically about this relationship. If this is a romantic relationship, we view being a boyfriend or girlfriend as courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, because we believe marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman that honors God. We encourage you to seek a godly spouse rather than simply a partner, and to pursue that relationship in purity, for God calls us to honor Him with our bodies and to flee from fornication, which is sex before or outside of marriage. We encourage you to ask whether this relationship is leading you both closer to Christ and toward marriage, or whether it is marked by a cycle of ignoring, arguing, and emotional hurt. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. 2 Corinthians 6:14. And we are called to bear with one another with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love, being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:2-3.
We know you feel ignored right now, but we want to remind you that the Lord never ignores you. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18 and He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3. We can bring our anxiety to Him, for In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.
We pray together for you now.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear one whose heart is hurting and who feels unloved and unheard. We ask You to wrap them in Your perfect love which casts out fear, for Perfect love casts out fear. 1 John 4:18. Heal the pain of feeling ignored, dry every tear, and give peace that surpasses understanding. Teach them to find their worth and security first in You, knowing You will never leave nor forsake them. Hebrews 13:5. We pray for the other person in this relationship as well, that You would soften any hardness of heart, give wisdom and kindness in communication, and help both to speak with grace and truth. If this is a courtship, we pray You would make clear whether it is Your will for marriage, and help them both to honor You in purity, patience, and self-control, which is fruit of Your Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23. If arguing and ignoring have become a pattern, we pray You would bring godly counsel, boundaries, and healing, and if needed, the courage to step back and seek Your will above all. Lead them both to a deeper relationship with Jesus, for it is only in Him that we have true love and hope. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
We encourage you to take this hurt to the Lord first before demanding a call back, to pray and wait on Him, and to seek wise, godly counsel from a pastor or mature believer. Trust that God hears you even when a person does not, and He will guide your steps as you seek His will.
