GOLF – God Our Loving Father
My husband loves to play golf and I was looking for an acronym to describe my stand and found ‘God Our Loving Father’ on the internet. God is awesome! My husband invests a lot of time and money on equipment, membership, and friendships. He also spends hours cleaning his clubs, ensuring they are in pristine condition. This is how our stand can be. We invest time by praying, fasting and reading God’s Word. The Bible is our mighty weapon, our golf club. Jesus is our golf buddy, our loving Father and Friend. He washed us with His precious blood so we could be pristine. We are His biggest investment. He paid a high price for us and He wants so much for us to spend quality time with Him.
My stand has sometimes been like the game of golf. It has been frustrating when things don't seem to be right and another year goes past. It is tempting to walk off the course and give up. I've been in life's bunkers of depression and desperation, but God! has been faithful and got me out. I have stood on the tee of life, not sure if I will hit the ball well. Will it be a good drive or will I veer off course? But God keeps me on course. Some of the things that have helped me are being part of a house group and having a prayer partner which is worth its weight in gold. When I'm hitting the ball well, this represents my praise and worship to our Lord. The last part of the game is reaching the 18th hole, our goal. This ends with a putt which requires reading the green and aligning the ball. Are you reading God’s Word? Have you aligned yourself in His Word and will?
I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:12-13 ESV
As we continue to stand, be encouraged. Read God's Word, belong to a church/Christian family, pray, fast and praise His mighty name. Sow into His kingdom and pray for Israel. Do all this and your game will improve. It will the best round ever as your prodigal spouse comes home and is saved and washed by the Blood of the Lamb.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 13:7 ESV
God Our Loving Father has His best for you. He is building you up for His kingdom. Standers, you are doing a great job. Don't give up on God as He will never give up on you.
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9 ESV
In faith, I am praying for every one that there will be a harvest of lost souls and marriages all over the world will be restored. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord! Psalm 31:24 ESV
