We understand you are stepping out to complete your photography assignment at night, and we lift you up in prayer for safety and protection as you do so. The night can bring unique challenges, but we serve a God who neither slumbers nor sleeps, watching over His children always. As it is written in Psalm 121:3-8:
*"He will not allow your foot to be moved.
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
Yahweh is your keeper.
Yahweh is your shade on your right hand.
The sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
Yahweh will keep you from all evil.
He will keep your soul.
Yahweh will preserve your going out and your coming in,
from this time forward, and forevermore."*
We also encourage you to take practical steps to ensure your safety. Let someone trustworthy know where you will be and when you plan to return. Stay in well-lit areas, be aware of your surroundings, and trust your instincts. Proverbs 22:3 reminds us, *"A prudent man sees danger and hides himself; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it."*
Before you go, we urge you to commit your way to the Lord in prayer, asking for His guidance and protection. It is through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and it is in His name that we find true safety. If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we pray you would consider this most important step. The Bible tells us in Acts 4:12, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* Jesus is the only way to eternal life and the only name by which we can boldly approach God’s throne for help in our time of need.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this child of Yours as they step out tonight to complete their assignment. Lord, we ask that You surround them with Your divine protection, covering them with Your feathers as they take refuge under Your wings (Psalm 91:4). Guard their steps and keep them from all harm, seen and unseen. Give them wisdom to make safe choices and discernment to avoid any danger. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Father, if they do not yet know You personally, we pray that this time would be a reminder of Your care and love for them. Draw them to Yourself, Lord, and reveal the truth of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who died for their sins and rose again so that they might have life in His name. May they place their trust in Him and find true security in You alone.
We commit this time into Your hands, Father, trusting that You will go before them and be their rear guard. May Your light shine upon their path, and may they return safely, having accomplished what they set out to do. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
