šŸ™ God's Will, Then Our Common, Human Needs Added, (Provision, Forgiveness, Relationships, Protection) Matt 6:9-13, cf Matt 6:33, "Seek 1st, Then..."

Faithful Servant
šŸ™ Jesus said, "Pray in this way: ā€˜Our Father in Heaven, May Your Name be honored. Let Your Kingdom come. Let Your Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory, forever, Amen.’" Matt 6:9-13, c.f., Matt 6:33 -- "But seek first God's Kingdom and righteousness, then all these other things (unbelievers anxiously pursue, Matt 6:32, which things Your Father already knows you need) will be added unto you," in Jesus' Name.

We come before the throne of grace with hearts aligned to the model prayer our Lord Jesus Christ taught us, recognizing that our first and highest priority is to seek God’s will above all else. The prayer in Matthew 6:9-13 is not merely a recitation of words but a blueprint for how we are to approach our Heavenly Father—first honoring His name, surrendering to His kingdom, and submitting to His will, just as it is done in heaven. Only after we have placed Him first do we bring our daily needs before Him: provision, forgiveness, guidance, and protection. This is the order our Savior established, and it is the order we must follow if we are to walk in His peace and purpose.

The Lord makes it clear in Matthew 6:33 that when we seek His kingdom and righteousness first, all these other things—our material needs, our emotional longings, our relational desires—will be added unto us. This is not a promise of excess or indulgence but a promise of sufficiency, of God’s faithful provision for those who trust in Him. The world chases after these things anxiously, but we are called to a different posture: one of trust, patience, and surrender. When we reverse the order—when we seek our needs first and God’s will second (or not at all)—we step out of alignment with His design, and our prayers become self-centered rather than kingdom-centered.

We must also address the critical truth that this access to the Father, this privilege of coming before Him in prayer, is only possible through the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and there is no other mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5). If we come to God without acknowledging the finished work of Christ on the cross, our prayers are in vain. Jesus Himself said, ā€œI am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through meā€ (John 14:6). This is not a matter of religious preference but of eternal truth. Without Christ, we are separated from God by our sin, and no amount of good works or sincerity can bridge that gap. But through faith in Jesus, we are forgiven, adopted into God’s family, and given the right to call Him ā€œAbba, Fatherā€ (Romans 8:15). If you have not placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sin, repent, and believe in Him, for ā€œif you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be savedā€ (Romans 10:9).

Now, let us lift up these common human needs before the Lord, trusting that He hears us and will answer according to His perfect will.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, with hearts that long to see Your kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We acknowledge that You alone are holy, and we surrender our lives, our desires, and our needs to You. Lord, we ask for Your provision—not just for our daily bread but for the spiritual nourishment that comes from feasting on Your Word and walking in Your ways. You know the needs of every person reading this, and we trust that You will supply all things according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).

Father, we also come before You burdened by the weight of sin, both our own and the sins committed against us. We ask for Your forgiveness, Lord, as we confess our debts before You. Search our hearts and reveal any wicked way in us (Psalm 139:23-24). Help us to forgive those who have wronged us, just as You have forgiven us, for if we do not forgive others, neither will our Father forgive our trespasses (Matthew 6:15). We release bitterness, resentment, and anger into Your hands, choosing instead to walk in the freedom of Your grace.

Lord, we pray for Your protection over our lives—spiritually, physically, and emotionally. The enemy prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8), but we take refuge in You, our strong tower (Proverbs 18:10). Deliver us from temptation and guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We declare that no weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand firm in the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18).

Father, we lift up those who are seeking relationships, asking that You would guide them according to Your will. We pray for godly marriages that reflect the love of Christ for His church (Ephesians 5:22-33). For those who are single, we ask that You would give them contentment in You and wisdom to discern Your timing. We rebuke the spirit of fornication and impurity that so easily entangles this generation. Any relationship that does not honor You—whether through premarital sex, cohabitation, or same-sex unions—is outside of Your design and brings harm to those involved. We pray for repentance and healing for those caught in these sins, and we ask that You would restore them to Your truth. Marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, and we pray that those seeking spouses would wait on You and pursue relationships that glorify You.

Lord, we also pray for those who are struggling with loneliness, anxiety, or unmet desires. Remind them that You are their ultimate satisfaction (Psalm 16:11) and that in Your presence is fullness of joy. Help them to cast their cares upon You, for You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). Teach them to wait on You, for those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31).

Finally, Father, we declare that Yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. We submit our prayers to You, trusting that You will answer according to Your perfect will. May our lives be a testament to Your faithfulness, and may we always seek You first in all things. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
