🙏 God's Will & Our Basic, Human Needs, (Provision, Forgiveness, Relationships, Protection) Matt 6:9-13

Faithful Servant
🙏 Jesus said, "Pray in this way: ‘Our Father in Heaven, May Your Name be honored. Let Your Kingdom come. Let Your Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory, forever, Amen.’" Matt 6:9-13, in Jesus' Name.

What a powerful reminder of how our Lord Jesus Christ taught us to pray—a model that covers the full spectrum of our dependence on God, from His sovereign will to our most basic human needs. You’ve highlighted the very heart of what it means to seek the Father’s kingdom first while trusting Him for provision, forgiveness, protection, and relationships. This is the foundation of a life surrendered to Christ, and we are grateful you’ve brought this before us to pray over and reflect upon together.

The Lord’s Prayer is not just a recitation but a framework for how we approach God in every season—acknowledging His holiness, submitting to His will, and relying on Him for *all* things. Let’s break this down as we lift it up in prayer and meditation, ensuring our hearts align with the truth of Scripture.

First, Jesus begins with worship: *"Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored."* This sets the tone—our prayers must start with reverence, recognizing that God is holy, sovereign, and worthy of all glory. Too often, we rush into our requests without first acknowledging Who He is. Do we come before Him with awe, or do we treat Him as a celestial vending machine? Repentance may be needed here if we’ve been guilty of approaching prayer with a self-centered heart rather than a God-centered one.

Next, *"Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven."* This is a surrender—a declaration that we want *His* plans, not our own. How often do we pray this sincerely, only to resist when His will doesn’t match our desires? True faith trusts that His ways are higher, even when they’re painful or unclear. If there’s an area where you’re struggling to submit to His will—whether in relationships, career, or personal obedience—now is the time to lay it down. His will is perfect, and His timing is flawless.

Then, Jesus addresses our *daily needs*: *"Give us today our daily bread."* This isn’t just about food—it’s about trusting God for *everything* we lack. Do you need provision? He is Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord who provides (Genesis 22:14). Are you anxious about finances, health, or stability? He knows your needs before you ask (Matthew 6:8). But notice—He gives *daily* bread, not a stockpile. This teaches us to depend on Him *one day at a time*, resisting the temptation to hoard or worry about tomorrow. If you’re struggling with fear over provision, take heart: *"Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘With what will we be clothed?’ ... For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* (Matthew 6:31-33, WEB).

Forgiveness follows: *"Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors."* This is a sobering line. Jesus doesn’t minced words—our forgiveness from God is *directly tied* to our forgiveness of others. *"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."* (Matthew 6:14-15, WEB). Is there someone you’re holding resentment toward? A grudge, bitterness, or unforgiveness? This is not just a suggestion—it’s a command. Unforgiveness is a poison that harms *you* more than the one who wronged you. Release it to the Lord today. Ask Him to soften your heart and grant you the grace to forgive, just as He forgave you.

Then, the plea for protection: *"Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."* We live in a fallen world, and the enemy prowls like a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8). Temptation will come—whether to sin, to doubt, to fear, or to stray from God’s path. But Jesus teaches us to *ask for deliverance*. Do you feel weak in a particular area? Are you battling sin, addiction, or spiritual attack? Cry out to Him! *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure."* (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB). He *will* provide a way out—but you must seek Him for strength.

Finally, the prayer ends with worship: *"For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen."* This is the bookend—starting and ending with praise. Even after pouring out our needs, we circle back to *Him*. Our prayers should never be one-sided conversations where we only ask and never worship. He is worthy of all glory, regardless of our circumstances.

Now, let’s pray over these truths together, asking the Lord to align our hearts with His will in every area—provision, forgiveness, relationships, and protection.

**Prayer:**

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, with hearts full of reverence and need. Your Word teaches us how to pray, and we humbly ask You to shape our prayers—and our lives—according to Your perfect will.

Lord, may Your name be honored in all the earth. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done in our lives as it is in heaven. We surrender our plans, our desires, and our fears to You, trusting that Your ways are higher and Your love is unfailing. Forgive us for the times we’ve sought our own will above Yours. Teach us to pray with hearts fully submitted to You.

Father, we ask for our daily bread—not just food, but *every* need. You know the anxieties we carry about finances, health, and the future. Remind us that You are our Provider, and that seeking Your kingdom first is the path to true peace. Help us to trust You one day at a time, resisting the temptation to worry or rely on our own strength.

We confess our sins before You, Lord, and ask for Your forgiveness. Search our hearts, and reveal any bitterness or unforgiveness we’re harboring. Give us the grace to forgive others as You have forgiven us. Heal our relationships, and help us to walk in love, even when it’s hard.

Protect us, Father, from the schemes of the evil one. When temptation comes, be our shield and our strength. Lead us away from sin and into Your righteousness. We cannot stand firm without You—fill us with Your Spirit and guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

And finally, Lord, we worship You. Yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Thank You for hearing our prayers, for loving us, and for never leaving us. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer and King. Amen.

As we close, let’s reflect on this: Are we praying *like Jesus taught us to pray*? Or have our prayers become routine, self-focused, or lacking in faith? Let’s examine our hearts and realign our prayer lives with this model. If there’s an area where you’re struggling—whether it’s unforgiveness, fear, or rebellion against God’s will—bring it to Him now. He is faithful to meet you right where you are.

And remember, *"The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and his ears listen to their cry."* (Psalm 34:15, WEB). Keep seeking Him. Keep trusting Him. He *will* provide, protect, and guide you. In Jesus’ name.
