Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

Your prayer reflects a beautiful hunger for God and His Word, and it is a joy to join with you in it. To ask for wisdom, for spiritual understanding, for a heart that truly knows the Lord, is to ask for the very thing God loves to give. Scripture teaches that wisdom is the principal thing, more valuable than mere knowledge, because wisdom is the right application of what we know. When wisdom enters the heart and knowledge becomes pleasant to the soul, discretion preserves us and understanding keeps us.

You asked that the Lord would open your minds as He did for His disciples, and that you would have hunger for the pure milk of the Word and for daily bread from His hand. That desire is from Him. The entrance of His Word gives light and understanding to the simple, it is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. A true search for understanding, pursued as one would seek for treasure, leads us to the fear of the Lord and to the knowledge of God Himself, for the Lord gives wisdom and out of His mouth come knowledge and understanding. As you continue in steady, systematic reading and meditation on Scripture, keeping it before you and talking about it together, God will make you wiser than mere human teaching could, because His Word is unchanging truth.

You also prayed to be doers of the Word and not hearers only, and to be kept from temptation and the evil one. That is exactly how wisdom keeps us. It delivers us from the way of the evil man and from perverse speech, from those who leave upright paths to walk in darkness and who delight in what God calls evil. To fear the Lord is to hate evil, and when we choose that fear, we depart from evil and walk in health and life. Remember that God never solicits us to evil. Temptation that draws us toward sin and toward a fleshly response comes from the enemy, not from God, and we are called in every such moment to choose whether we will walk according to the flesh or according to the Spirit. True faith will show itself in obedience. Faith comes first, but real faith always works itself out in a life that conforms to what we believe.

I join you in praying as you have asked. May the Father grant you wisdom and spiritual understanding according to Colossians 1:9, and the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, that the eyes of your hearts may be enlightened to know the hope of His calling and the riches of His inheritance according to Ephesians 1:17 and 18. May He give you deep hunger for His Word as a newborn longs for milk according to 1 Peter 2:2, and open your understanding to grasp the Scriptures according to Luke 24:45, so that you receive the implanted Word with meekness and do what it says according to James 1:21 and 22. May He guard you from distraction, sin, deception, and the evil one, and keep you from the path of those who would lead you astray, according to Matthew 6:13 and John 17:15.

And for your family, I pray that God would shine in every heart the light of the knowledge of His glory in the face of Jesus Christ according to 2 Corinthians 4:6, and bring you into the unity of one faith, one hope, one baptism and one Father according to Ephesians 4:4 to 6. May He awaken your ears morning by morning to hear as disciples according to Isaiah 50:4, and help you to share with one another what you are learning, as those who are taught share all good things with those who teach according to Galatians 6:6. May all Scripture continue to be profitable to you for doctrine, for reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness, that you may be complete and equipped for every good work.
