Dear Father in Heaven,
Oh brothers and sisters, I pray that you may find the following useful in your walk with the Lord. For how many professing Christians hesitate and stumble when asked to recall the Ten Commandments, more so in correct order. That is, showing that the first four define our relationship with God, and the second six, our relationships with each other. Moreover, non-Christians who don’t know these fundamental laws, can easily be taught this way, as long as they have ears to hear.
Through Your Scriptures, Dear Lord, we know how important Your Ten Commandments are as You remind us of them 171 times in 168 verses throughout the original King James Version of our Holy Bible. We know that they comprise Your Holy Instruction Manual for our lives as we prepare ourselves for Your Coming Kingdom of Heaven, Godspeed!
Here is an invaluable memory recall technique for you known as a mnemonic (pronounced “nemonik”) that I spontaneously created and is simple, fun and effective to use. First, look at the ten letters below:
G
I
V
S
P
M
A
S
L
C
Now read and pronounce to yourself the acronym (whereby the first letter of each word is the memory clue of what we need to remember) as a sentence – that is, GIVS PM AS LC. Which stands for – GIV(e)S Prophet Messiah A S Letter of Credit!
Turning the abbreviated form into a fuller expression may make it easier to recall, although the original lettering is sufficient. For wasn’t Jesus, our Prophet and Messiah GIVen to us AS a guarantee that our sins have been paid for well in advance, just like a Letter of Credit!?
Next, just mentally complete The Ten Commandments in full, as each letter prompts you to match its related word.
G – God
I – Idols
V – Vain
S – Sabbath
P – Parents
M – Murder
A – Adultery
S – Steal
L – Lie
C – Covet
Now the Ten Commandments, being on the tip of your tongue, can always be in the forefront of your mind, and in order, to easily and fluently share with others, as well as remind ourselves to strive to live a righteous life of faith and hope in God’s eternal promise.
Let us never forget what Jesus told us . . .
I pray that all brother and sisters gathered here may be blessed by God’s Holy Grace and that all prayers from their sincere spiritual hearts may be heard by You Father and responded to according to Your Divine Will.
For “life” here, let us read “eternal life” and for “city” – “New Jerusalem in God’s Coming Kingdom.”
Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! Praise Jesus King of kings & Lord of lords!
In Jesus’ name I pray.
Forever and ever,
Amen!
