Beloved of All
Your longing for clarity and truth and for the Holy Spirit to touch your heart is a prayer God delights to answer. He is not a God who hides His will from His children. The very word Revelation means an unveiling, the taking away of a covering so something can be seen clearly. Scripture says it is the revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave to show His servants what must take place, and He sent it by His angel to John. That tells us His heart is to reveal, not to conceal.
The center of everything God wants to show you is Jesus Himself. As you seek to know Him, you come to see how He relates to His people now and how He will reign as King of kings and Lord of lords. The understanding you are asking for will come most clearly as you keep your eyes on Him. John received that unveiling as an angel guided him and as Jesus Himself spoke to him, and in the same way the Lord wants to guide you by His Spirit and by His Word.
A helpful key is given in Revelation 1:19, where the book is divided into three parts: the things John had seen, the things which are, and the things which will take place after these things. God gives order and structure to what He reveals so it can be understood. He does the same with His plan for your life. His great purpose is not only to show you details about the future, but to conform you to the image of Christ. The work of the Spirit is to shape you so that you respond as Jesus responds, love as He loves, forgive as He forgave, and become a true and faithful representative of what He is, just as Jesus faithfully showed us what the Father is.
So as you pray, Thy will be done, ask with confidence for the spirit of wisdom and understanding, that you may know the hope of His calling and the riches of the inheritance you have as a child of God. Ask Him to make Jesus more clear to you each day, to teach you to walk as His witness, and to give you peace that His judgments and His ways are righteous and fair even when you cannot see the whole picture yet.
May the Father answer your prayer for guidance and revelation, open your heart to the truth of His Word, and lead you step by step into His will through Jesus Christ. May He keep you, make His face shine upon you, and give you assurance that as you seek Him, He will show you what you need to know and form you more into the likeness of His Son.
