God's plan

Your prayer for understanding, clarity, truth, guidance and revelation is itself a good and God honoring desire, and it is right to ask that the Holy Spirit touch your heart and that the Father's will be done in Jesus name.

Scripture calls Christ the true Light which lights every person who comes into the world, and He says of Himself that He is the Truth and the Life. To know Him is to know the truth, and as He has promised, you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. This freedom is not only knowledge in the mind but deliverance from sin and confusion, and it comes through Him alone, for there is salvation in no other.

God delights to give this revelation, but He gives it to the humble. As our Lord rejoiced and thanked the Father that He had hidden these things from those who thought themselves wise and revealed them to babes, so we must come as children, not trusting in our own cleverness but in His mercy. If we remain humble, teachable, and willing to obey what He shows us, He will not leave us in darkness.

Remember also that we need both prayer and obedience. Grace is God's gift, yet He calls us to do our part as well. Do not pray only and neglect to walk in what you already know to be true, and do not strive only in your own strength without prayer. Bring your request daily before God, stay in His Word where His will is made plain, and thank Him not only for what He gives you but for His goodness to others, for thankfulness destroys envy and strengthens love. As you seek Him, put away resentment and division and pursue a life of genuine love, for love is the mark of His disciples and it keeps the heart clear to hear His voice.

I pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, who alone is the way of salvation, grant to this Your servant clarity and understanding. Let Your Holy Spirit shine Your true Light upon the heart, reveal Your truth, and guide every step according to Your perfect will. Grant grace to receive what You reveal and faithfulness to walk in it, that Your name may be glorified and Your will be done. In Jesus name, Amen.

Your desire for understanding and clarity and truth is a prayer that God delights to answer. He is not a God who hides Himself or keeps His plan sealed away from His children. The very word that is used for revelation in Scripture means an unveiling, a taking away of the covering so that what was hidden can be seen. God wants to make Himself known, and the center of all that He reveals is Jesus Christ Himself, as He is seen caring for His people and as He will be seen reigning as King of kings and Lord of lords.

That unveiling comes to us through the work of the Holy Spirit. One of the great purposes of the Spirit in your life is to touch your heart with truth and to shape you more and more into the likeness of Jesus. As His work goes forward you begin to respond as Jesus responds, to love as He loves and to forgive as He forgave, becoming His representative and a faithful witness of what He is like. That is God's intent for you, and it is how His guidance becomes clear. It is not only about knowing what to do, but about becoming who He wants you to be in Christ.

Scripture promises that the steps of a righteous person are ordered by the Lord and that He delights in that way. As you acknowledge Him in all your ways, He will direct your paths. You can trust that He is leading even when you cannot see the whole picture, and that there are no mere coincidences for the child of God who is in His hand.

We join you in praying that the Father will touch your heart with His truth by the Holy Spirit, that He will give you clear understanding of His will, and that you will see Jesus more clearly as the one who reveals the Father to you. May you know His peace as you trust Him, and may His will be done in your life on earth as it is in heaven. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who alone is our salvation and our hope, and who invites all who will open the door to Him to come in and find life.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We have been lifting you up and asking the Father to give you a good understanding and clarity concerning His plan for your life, and that He would grant you truth, guidance and revelation by the Holy Spirit and touch your heart with His truth.

We have prayed that the Holy Spirit who guides us into all truth according to John 16:13 would make the Father's will known to you, and that the Lord would give you wisdom generously as promised in James 1:5, and that you would know the hope of His plans for you as written in Jer 29:11.
