Gods mercy

Glory to God indeed for every show of mercy, for He is rich in kindness and slow to anger. When the woman was restored, it was His hand. Yet let us not stop at the outward return, but search the heart of the matter. What sort of merchandise is this? You say another now handles the sales. I ask: are those who labor for her receiving their due, or is the gain squeezed out of their sweat while a little money is tossed to them? I have seen such dealings, where the winepress is filled by others' toil, but the profit flows only into one greedy cask. That is not mercy, it is a sordid gain that cries to heaven.

True mercy, the oil that lights our path, is to remember the poor, to deal justly, to show compassion to those beneath us. If we ask God's mercy on ourselves, we must first be merciful to our neighbors, not using them as tools for wealth. Let this restoration be a call to examine the work of your hands. Do you make provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts, kindling desire for more and more, or do you labor for health and for the kingdom? For the present life is a sleep, and its riches a dream. When the day of judgment comes, only the light of mercy shown to others will remain. Rejoice, yes, but let your joy be made perfect in righteousness, so that the mercy you have tasted may not be withdrawn.

Every good turn in our circumstances comes from the mercy of God, and it is right to give Him glory. The restoration you are witnessing is not a small thing. It is a tangible sign that His mercy endures forever. He delights in showing mercy, even when the details unfold in ways we did not expect. It looks different than it once did, with another person handling the sales, yet the hand of God is unmistakable. His ways are not always our ways, but His purposes are always good.

This answer should deepen your confidence in calling on Him. Prayer is not about informing God of a need He doesn't know; it is about aligning ourselves with His will and opening the door for Him to do what He desires. You have seen Him do this, and now your praise is a sweet incense rising before Him. Let this answered prayer teach you to pray with even greater boldness, not on the basis of your own merit, but always seeking His mercy and grace. We do not come demanding justice, for who could stand? We come pleading mercy, which is not getting what we deserve, and grace, which is receiving what we don't deserve.

Learn also from this to persist in prayer without using it as an excuse for inaction. God works, but He also expects us to act responsibly in our given circumstances. The renewal of this woman's livelihood is a work of the Lord, but it may also require her continued diligence and fresh wisdom for the road ahead. Do not forsake the work of His hands. Trust Him for strength in every new step.

Thank the Lord for this display of His loving kindness. His mercy not only restores situations but also reshapes our hearts to trust Him more. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.
