God's grace and mercy

Your prayer request has been heard and we are praying for you with care. Thank you for sharing so honestly about the conflict you feel, the worry about money and housing, and the fear that God might punish you if you try to provide for yourself and your son.
Wanting to work, to have something purposeful to do each day, and to care for your family is not something God condemns. Work itself is part of how God provides. Scripture shows God as gracious and merciful, patient and kind, and He often provides through the diligent use of the hands and gifts He has given us. The fearful warnings in Scripture about punishment are for those who persistently reject His mercy and live in willful disobedience, not for a mother who seeks honest work to feed and house her child. God is not laying a trap for you where seeking a job will cause Him to take away His blessing or break down your car. He is a Father who sees your needs and invites you to cast your anxieties on Him because He cares for you.
It is understandable to feel torn. You have seen God provide graciously, and you are grateful. That gratitude is good. At the same time, the desire to work and to ease the burden of worry is also good. These two things do not have to oppose each other. God can provide both directly and through open doors for employment. Going to an interview is not turning away from trust in God, it can be an act of stewardship and trust, asking Him to guide the outcome.
We are praying for you in this way:
We pray that God will quiet your heart and remove the fear that He is waiting to punish you, and that He will give you peace that passes understanding as you make decisions. We pray that He will give you clear wisdom about both interviews, and that if it is His will for you to work in this season, He will open the right door and close the wrong one, and you will know His leading. We pray for your apartment recertification, that God would go before you and prepare the way, that He would grant favor with the apartment management, and that you and your son would not lose your home but would continue to have a safe place to live. We pray for your car and for daily provision, that God would protect you as you travel and supply what you need. Above all we pray that you would know His grace and mercy in Jesus Christ, that you would hear His kind voice above the voice of fear, and that you would be strengthened to trust Him one day at a time.
If you are able to go, go with prayer, asking the Lord to lead you and to give you peace about the result, whatever it is. If a door does not open, it is not a sign of His anger, but of His direction. Keep bringing your worries to Him, keep seeking Him in His Word and in prayer, and lean on faithful believers around you for counsel and support.
