We join you in prayer, lifting up the petitions laid out in the Lord's Prayer, as taught by our Savior Jesus Christ in Matthew 6:9-13. This prayer is a beautiful guide for us to follow, aligning our hearts with God's will and acknowledging our dependence on Him. Let us break this down,
Firstly, we address our Father in heaven, recognizing His sovereignty and holiness. "Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy." (Matthew 6:9, WEB). We praise You, Lord, for You are worthy of all honor and glory. Help us to live lives that revere and honor Your holy name.
"May your Kingdom come. May your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth." (Matt. 6:10). Father, we pray for Your kingdom to come and Your will to be done here on earth, just as it is in heaven. Help us to surrender our own desires and submit to Your perfect will. We know unless You build the house, the laborers labor is in vain. Help us to build our lives and make our plans according to Your Word.
We will always be in need and we ask for our daily bread. "Give us today our daily bread." Matthew 6:11. Lord, You are our provider, and we trust You to meet our every need. Help us to be content with what You give us, and to share generously with others.
"Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors." (Matt. 6:12). Father, forgive us for our sins, as we also forgive those who have sinned against us. Help us to live in unity and love with our brothers and sisters in Christ, putting aside any bitterness or resentment.
"Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." (Matt. 6:13). Lord, we acknowledge our weakness and propensity to sin. Help us to flee from temptation and stand firm against the schemes of the devil. Deliver us from his grasp, and help us to put on the full armor of God.
Finally, "For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen." (Matt. 6:13). We give You all the praise, honor, and glory, Lord. You reign forever, and we are grateful to be Your children, saved and redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ.
We are so grateful for this model of prayer that Jesus gave us. He showed us how to come before the Father humbly and boldly and He is constantly making intercession for us. Let this be a reminder to us that we can always come before the throne of grace at any time.
We praise You, Father, for hearing our prayers. We ask all these things in Jesus' name, for it is in His name alone that we have access to Your throne. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." 1 Timothy 2:5. As we pray, let us always remember that we are speaking to our loving and gracious heavenly Father, and let us come before Him with reverence and awe. May God continue to be with you and bless you.
