God’s Dresser

There are many people in the world that have a problem with forgiving themselves of their past mistakes and the enemy of hell tries his best to add condemnation to worsen the feelings that they have. God is a God of love and compassion who wishes to forgive and restore all who come to Him. Never allow the enemy to make you feel as if you are beyond redemption. God is able to turn your mess into a miracle.

I hope the following story will minister to you if you are having trouble forgiving yourself, or feel as if God will never forgive you of your past mistakes.

A woman is dying of AIDS. A minister is summoned. He attempts to comfort her, but to no avail.

"I am lost," she said. "I have ruined my life and every life around me. Now I'm going painfully to hell. There is no hope for me."

The minister saw a framed picture of a pretty girl on the dresser. "Who is this?" he asked.

The woman brightened. "She is my daughter, the one beautiful thing in my life."

"And would you help her if she was in trouble, or made a mistake? Would you forgive her? Would you still love her?" the minister asked.

"Of course I would!" cried the woman, "I would do anything for her! Why do you ask such a question?"

"Because I want you to know," said the minister, "that God has a picture of you on His dresser."

Let it be a comfort in your heart to know that God is not in heaven waiting to punish you for your past mistakes. The Bible says that God wishes for none to perish, but for all to come to repentance. He is waiting for you to call upon Him in repentance and ask that He would forgive you and receive you unto Himself. (2 Peter 3:9) (2 Corinthians 5:19-21)

God is a gentleman and will not force Himself upon anyone. He has given us His word as a witness of His everlasting love and mercy and has left the rest up to us, either to believe and be saved or not believe and be miserable. Jesus says in Revelation 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me." (John 1:1-4)

If you are going through a tough situation and feel away from God, I want you to know that He is only a call away from being right there with you to comfort and strengthen your heart. Remember what Romans 10:13 declares, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Psalm 103:8-13 "The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father pities his children, So the Lord pities those who fear Him."

2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance."

John 6:37 Jesus says, "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out."
