A street dog and its pup used to come and lie down in front of our gate often. The mother dog pamper it and they play together. Also it keeps watch over wherever it goes. I enjoy watching these two from my window.
One fine morning I saw the mother dog was alone, crying and running here and there, then jumping in the neighbors' plots searching for the pup. After a long time it came with it and was very angry, refused to allow the little one to come near. So, that pup went lying under a car parked opposite our gate and was looking at the mother for her favour again. But no response from the mother. But the next day, I saw them playing together again. Mother's anger gone !
This is just the feeling of a dog created by the almighty God.
Then imagine what would be our Heavenly Father's ache when we go astray. How much His heart will long for His children who had gone away from Him. He will make ways for their realization to bring them back.
The following verses explain the repentance of Ephraim and the response from our Heavenly Father.
Jeremiah 31:18-20
18 “I have surely heard Ephraim’s moaning:
‘You disciplined me like an unruly calf,
and I have been disciplined.
Restore me, and I will return,
because you are the Lord my God.
19 After I strayed,
I repented;
after I came to understand,
I beat my breast.
I was ashamed and humiliated
because I bore the disgrace of my youth.’
The answer from God for a repented soul :
20 Is not Ephraim my dear son,
the child in whoīm I delight?
Though I often speak against him,
I still remember him.
Therefore my heart yearns for him;
I have great compassion for him,”
declares the Lord.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Amen.
