Divine Gentleness Acknowledged
God’s gentle love lifts you from nothing to spiritual greatness and calls you to live boldly for Him.
We join with you in your cry against the evil and selfishness you see in this world and we understand your desire for God's justice and protection to prevail over every unholy and demonic influence.

We want to gently bring some biblical clarity to your request, because Scripture teaches us that people themselves are not demons, but people can be influenced and oppressed by demonic forces. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12. Every person is made in the image of God and He desires that none should perish but that all should come to repentance, so we are called to hate the evil while still praying for the salvation and deliverance of the people who are caught in it. That is why Jesus taught us to love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Matthew 5:44.

We also hear your prayer for God to send His angel warriors, and we affirm that God does command His holy angels to guard and minister on behalf of His people. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11. And Elisha prayed and saw that those who are with us are more than those who are with them, for the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire around Elisha. 2 Kings 6:17. We do not need to command God to send a specific number like one hundred, nor do we pray to angels themselves, but we humbly ask our Father in heaven according to His perfect wisdom and power to do what is best, trusting that one of His angels is enough to accomplish His will, and His heavenly host is beyond counting.

We also noticed your prayer was addressed to God without mentioning Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and victory over darkness. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. At the cross, Christ disarmed the principalities and powers and triumphed over them, and it is by His name and His blood that we have authority to resist the enemy. We encourage you, if you have not already, to put your faith fully in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing He died for your sins and rose again, for in Him we have forgiveness and eternal life.

So together we pray to our heavenly Father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Father, we come before Your throne in Jesus name and ask for Your protection and deliverance over this situation. We ask that You rebuke every evil and demonic spirit that seeks to work through selfishness, greed, and harm toward others. We pray You would expose the works of darkness and render them powerless by the blood of Jesus. Send Your holy angels to guard and encamp around those who love You and call upon You. We pray not for the destruction of people, but for the defeat of the spiritual forces that deceive them, and we ask that You would bring conviction, repentance, and salvation to those who are living only for themselves and hurting others. Let Your justice and mercy prevail. Help us to stand strong, to submit therefore to God and resist the devil, trusting that he will flee from us. James 4:7. We remember that he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4. Clothe us in the full armor of God that we may stand firm in truth, righteousness, faith, and the gospel of peace. Ephesians 6:11. We trust not in a number of warriors but in You, the Lord of hosts, whose power is perfect and whose love never fails. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to walk closely with Jesus, to stay in His Word daily, to pray continually, and to refuse to repay evil for evil, for vengeance belongs to the Lord. Romans 12:19. Keep your eyes on Christ who has already won the victory, and trust that God sees every injustice and will act in His perfect time and way.

Thank you for sharing this prayer with us. We hear how heavy it feels to watch people who seem to care only for themselves and are willing to hurt others to get ahead. It is understandable to want God to step in strongly and set things right.

We join you in wanting God's protection and justice in those situations. When we feel surrounded by selfishness or evil, it can help to keep our focus on Christ himself and His care for us, rather than staying fixed on the power of darkness. God sees what is happening, He is not distant from it, and He is able to guard our hearts and guide our steps as we walk through difficult places with difficult people.

If this burden stays heavy, it can help to keep bringing it to God in simple, steady prayer in Jesus' name, and to stay connected with a trusted pastor or small community who can pray with you and encourage you in person.

Father, we bring this hurt and frustration to You in Jesus' name. We ask for Your protection over this dear one, for peace in place of weariness, and for wisdom to navigate relationships where others act selfishly. Draw them close to You, remind them they are safe in Your hands, and lead them in Your will day by day. Amen.

Your cry for deliverance from those who do evil for selfish gain and wound others to get ahead has been heard, and it is right to bring such grief before the Lord who sees all and judges righteously.

Scripture reminds us that troubles do not spring out of the dust, but the Lord Himself kindles the fiery furnace and sits as a Refiner at the door. All our ills lie within the fence of omnipotent overruling, and that which we receive from the rod of the Lord bears the aspect of chastening from a Father's hand. It is hopeful to know that even the malice of others is not outside His sacred zone of providential government, and He will not suffer His people to be tried beyond what is for their good.

Yet the greater deliverance we need is not only from the hurt done to us by others, but from the Pit itself. There is a voice that came from the excellent Glory, Deliver him from going down to the Pit, I have found a ransom. Nobody would have thought of that way of deliverance of a sinner from the pit of hell through a ransom if God had not thought of it. God has not only invented a way of deliverance, but He has found a ransom, and it is a gift of divine love in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. He has taught us the mischief that comes from loving the world and its ways, and He has delivered us from the power of darkness. Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin, and we must look to our heavenly Father, altogether and alone, for it.

We do wrestle against the prince of darkness who has power over our evil natures, and we cannot overcome him of ourselves. If we are ever set free from sin and Satan, it will be eternally and infinitely true that the Lord brought us forth out of the house of bondage. Deliverance is of the Lord, though He is pleased to use instruments, and His angels are ministering spirits sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation. Still our expectation must be from Him alone. As David said when enemies went round about the city like dogs, My soul, wait thou only upon God, for my expectation is from Him.

The word also calls us to a God-like response to evil. To return evil for evil is natural to the fallen nature, but good for evil is God-like. The benefit of returning good for evil is that it preserves the man from evil. If evil assails you and you only fight it with good, it cannot hurt you. May the Lord keep you from being overcome by the very evil you lament, and make you an overcomer by doing good.

Let us pray together for you.

Gracious Father, You have found a ransom in Your Son and have promised, Deliver him from going down to the Pit. We ask that You would deliver this soul from the power of darkness, from the assaults of the evil one, and from the hurt inflicted by those who walk in selfishness. Set a guard about this life, restrain the designs of the wicked, and bring to justice what is done in darkness according to Your perfect will. Grant repentance where there is hardness, protection where there is vulnerability, and peace within the borders of this heart. Teach us to wait only upon You, to overcome evil with good, and to live to declare the works of the Lord, through Jesus Christ our only Savior, in whose name we trust for full deliverance. Amen.
