God’s subtle guidance appears in life’s turns and trials, urging you to trust and follow His direction.

Duties of Wives to Husbands
A wife’s devotion and wisdom can shield her home and guide her husband toward God’s grace and eternal life.
We rejoice with you in this godly desire for marriage, for we know that marriage is a holy and lifelong covenant between a man and a woman ordained by God for His glory. It is good that you are seeking a wife and not simply a partner or a relationship, but a godly Christian wife with whom you can build a Christ centered marriage.

The scripture says, He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh Proverbs 18:22 and also, Yahweh God said, It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him Genesis 2:18. A godly wife is described as one where Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised Proverbs 31:30. We pray that the Lord will lead you to such a woman who truly fears Him, loves His Word, and desires to honor Him in marriage.

We understand your heart in being friendly with many people in your church and wanting clear direction and even a sign as to who she might be. We join you in praying for wisdom and clarity. The Lord does guide His children, and He promises, If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5 and Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. Rather than looking only for a fleeting sign, we encourage you to seek His will through His Word, through consistent prayer, through the counsel of mature believers and pastors in your church, and through observing the character and fruit of those around you over time.

We also pray that you will be prepared to be the godly husband that such a wife deserves, for Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it Ephesians 5:25. As you wait, we encourage you to delight yourself in the Lord first, for we are told Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart Psalm 37:4 and But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33. Guard your heart with purity and keep yourself from fornication, which is any sexual intimacy outside of marriage, and remember Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness and iniquity 2 Corinthians 6:14. So we pray you will pursue courtship only with a fellow believer in Christ with marriage as the clear goal.

We notice your prayer says Lord but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are saved and our prayers are heard. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Him.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up our brother to Your throne of grace. We thank You for placing this desire for a godly Christian wife and for marriage upon his heart. We ask that You prepare him even now to be a faithful, loving, and Christlike husband. Prepare also the woman You have for him, wherever she may be, that she would be growing in faith, purity, and love for You. If she is in his own church, we ask that You give him clear wisdom, discernment, and godly direction, not confusion, and that You make Your will known through Your Word, through peace in his heart, and through the wise counsel of others. Help him to not lean on emotions or outward appearance alone, but to look for a woman who fears You and loves You above all. Keep them both pure and guard them from temptation as they wait upon Your perfect timing. We trust Your goodness and Your perfect plan for his life. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue in prayer, to remain rooted in Scripture, to serve faithfully in your church, and to get to know others in wholesome fellowship without rushing. As you walk closely with the Lord, He will direct your steps and in His time He will make His path clear.

We are grateful you shared this longing with us. Wanting a godly wife and wanting God's direction in it is a good desire, and it makes sense you would feel a bit unsure when you are friendly with many people in your church and do not want to misread anything.

When we pray for a sign we often hope for something immediate and unmistakable. In our experience God more often guides through steady wisdom over time, through character we come to know up close, through the counsel of mature believers who know us well, and through open and closed doors as we keep walking faithfully. That kind of guidance can feel slower than a single moment, but it is often more trustworthy than a feeling alone.

A practical step that may help is to invite one or two trusted pastors or older married believers in your church into this prayer with you. Not to choose someone for you, but to know you, to pray with you regularly, and to offer honest perspective as friendships naturally develop. Keep investing in community and serving where you are, and give yourself time to notice shared faith, character, and how someone lives when no one is watching, without pressure to decide quickly.

We are praying with you for clarity and patience in this season.

Father, we lift our brother to You. You know his desire for a godly marriage and his heart to honor You. Give him wisdom and peace as he waits, show him the next faithful step to take, and continue to shape him into the husband You are calling him to be. Lead him according to Your will and keep him close to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

It is a good and holy desire that you have set before the Lord, for marriage is not a less sacred thing than any other holy calling, and when it is entered into in the fear of God it is honorable and blessed. To seek a godly wife is to seek one who will be a true helper, a companion in prayer, and a fellow pilgrim to glory, and the Lord delights to hear such a prayer offered in sincerity at the mercy seat.

You ask for direction and a sign, and I would point you to the surer way of divine guidance. The Psalmist says, Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. The true Christian is at home in seeking the Lord and asking counsel and guidance at His mercy seat in every diversity of circumstance. God guides His people not by fleeting impressions alone, but by great principles infused in the heart, by His Word, and by bowing with submission to His will. By that very submission we are furnished with unerring guidance.

Therefore I exhort you to wait upon the Lord and not to be hasty, for haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life. Do not seek merely a sign to point to one among many, but seek the Lord Himself, that He may prepare you as well as her. Pray that you may be the godly husband such a wife would need, a man who follows out the statutes and ordinances of the Lord in daily faith and obedience.

As you look among those with whom you are friendly, look with sober judgment and with counsel. Marriage as God ordained it is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, wherein the two become one, and its crown is mutual delight and holy complacency under Christ. Sex and the making of a home belong within that covenant alone. Therefore observe character rather than charm. Is she a woman who loves Christ above all, who delights in His Word, who is faithful in prayer, modest, diligent, and loving. Does her life show the fruit of grace. Take counsel with godly and mature believers who know you both, for one of the most intense desires of every godly man is that there may be a succession of godly homes.

Continue in prayer, continue in the Word, and continue in faithful service where God has placed you in your church. Serve the Lord together with His people and you will come to see, in the ordinary course of providence, the grace and fitness that marks a true helpmeet.

Let us pray for you now. O Lord our God, we thank Thee that Thou hast ordained marriage for good and for Thy glory. We ask Thee to guide this our brother with Thy counsel. Keep him from haste and from leaning to his own understanding. Make him to be a man after Thine own heart, faithful and pure, and in Thy good time, if it be Thy will, bring to him a godly wife who loves the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart, that together they may walk in Thy ways and build a home that honors Thee. Give him wisdom to discern, patience to wait, and contentment to rest in Thy perfect will, whether Thou answerest soon or callest him to wait longer. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom alone is salvation. Amen.
