Beloved of All
Your cry for help has been heard and God does hear the honest prayer for deliverance. The desire to get out of what has entangled you is a desire God Himself places in the heart, because He made you for freedom.
Jesus spoke of this freedom when He said that if you know the truth, the truth will make you free, and that whom the Son sets free is free indeed. That is not just freedom to do whatever you want. The deepest and most precious part of that freedom is the freedom not to have to do it. Not to have to return to what has held you, not to have to obey the pull of sin, not to have to live as a servant to it.
Scripture is clear that whatever overcomes a person brings that person into bondage. When we give ourselves to something, we become its servant. The picture given in the Bible is like Israel in Egypt. Egypt stands for the bondage of sin and Pharaoh stands for the enemy who wants to keep people there. God delivered His people from that bondage and led them through the sea so that the old life was left behind. In the same way Jesus takes the place of our Passover and brings us out of the bondage of sin into a new life.
That freedom is a gift to be guarded. We can have liberty and then use that liberty in an unwise way that puts us back under power. Adam had freedom in the garden and was warned that eating from one tree would bring death and bondage, yet he used his freedom to follow the desire of the flesh instead of the word of God. In the same way, a person who has been set free can still choose in a way that lets something gain power again. True wisdom loves freedom so much that it stays away from whatever could bring it back under control.
The good news is that Jesus can set you free from any binding power that holds your life, whatever it is that has entangled you and held you under its influence. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty from the pressure to earn favor by the law and from the guilt the law brings. You have been set apart for God, for His exclusive purpose, and He wants to walk with you in that new life by His Spirit.
If you want to be free, bring it to Jesus plainly. Confess to Him what has bound you and ask Him to be your deliverer, for He alone saves. Receive His truth and let it replace the lies that have kept you in bondage. Fill your mind with His word, and ask His Spirit to give you strength to walk in the new way. Turn away from the places and patterns that give the old bondage access to you, and lean into fellowship with believers who will walk with you in the light. Guard the freedom He gives you and do not test it by going back to what enslaved you.
I pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I bring this dear one to You who is crying out to get free. You see every entanglement and every chain. Set this soul free by Your power and by Your truth. Break the power of sin that has held this life in bondage and bring the glorious liberty that belongs to Your children. Give a new mind and a new heart, fill with Your Spirit, and teach how to guard that freedom and walk in it day by day. Keep this one from returning to what enslaves, and let Your freedom remain and grow. Amen.
