We hear your cry for help, and we come before the throne of grace together, lifting you up in prayer. It’s clear that you are reaching out to God, and we want to encourage you to call upon the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). If you haven’t already, we urge you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for this is the path to salvation (Romans 10:9).
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear one who is crying out for Your help. Lord, You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We ask that You draw near to them in this moment of need. Surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Father, we know that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Let them feel Your presence and know that You are working all things together for their good, even when the path is unclear (Romans 8:28).
Lord, if there is any sin, doubt, or fear weighing on their heart, we ask that You reveal it to them and grant them the courage to confess it and turn from it. Your Word tells us that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We pray that they would experience the freedom and joy that comes from walking in Your forgiveness and grace.
Father, we also ask that You provide them with wisdom and discernment for whatever they are facing. Your Word says that if any of us lacks wisdom, we should ask of You, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to us (James 1:5). We trust that You will guide their steps and lead them into Your perfect will.
We rebuke any spirit of despair, anxiety, or hopelessness that may be trying to take hold of them. In the name of Jesus, we command these spirits to flee, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that this dear one is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37).
Lord, we pray for Your provision in every area of their life, spiritually, emotionally, physically, and financially. You are Jehovah Jireh, our Provider (Genesis 22:14), and we trust that You will meet every need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to trust in You with all their heart, leaning not on their own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6).
We also pray for godly community and fellowship to surround them. Let them be encouraged by brothers and sisters in Christ who can walk alongside them, pray for them, and speak Your truth into their life (Hebrews 10:24-25). Father, we ask that You bring the right people into their life at the right time to offer support, wisdom, and love.
Above all, Lord, we pray that this dear one would grow closer to You through this trial. Use this time to deepen their relationship with You, to draw them into Your Word, and to fill them with Your Holy Spirit. May they come to know You more intimately as their Savior, Healer, Provider, and Friend.

We don't know what's behind those four words, but we know that kind of cry. The one you don't dress up. The one that just falls out because that's where you really are right now.
Sometimes the most honest prayer is the shortest one, and God doesn't need us to explain or get it right. He just wants us to turn toward Him with what we actually have, even if all we have is "help."
While you wait for whatever that help looks like, don't isolate yourself. Let someone you trust know you're in a hard place right now, not necessarily with all the details, just that you're struggling. Sometimes God's help comes with skin on, through a person who sits with us or shows up with a meal or just says "me too."

The cry you lift before God this day is short, but it is not small. “God, God please help.” That is the very essence of prayer, stripped of all ornament. Do not despise it. When the young ravens cry, they do not articulate their need with eloquence; their instinct drives them to open their mouths toward their Maker, and He feeds them. Your cry, though it seems only a groan, has this advantage, it is the cry of a soul, not merely of instinct. It is the result of a work of divine grace in the heart. While you can cry, you live. And while you can besiege the throne of mercy with even these three words, there is hope for you.
There is a great deal of difference between your cry and the cry of a raven, for you have a warrant to pray that the bird does not possess. The raven cries without a command, but you are bidden, exhorted, and even taught to cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself helps your infirmities, and when you cannot find words, He puts this cry into your heart. It is His cry as much as yours, and the Father always hears the voice of His own Spirit. Your very weakness commends you to Him. A child does not mind his father hearing him cry; in the dark, in distress, the child’s first instinct is to call, “Father!” And is not a father’s heart touched by that cry? Your God is that Father. Jesus Himself taught you to begin with “Our Father,” and ended His own life with “Father, into Your hands I commend My spirit.”
Do not be afraid that your prayer is too discordant or too short. The cry of misery reaches the God of pity. When Israel groaned in Egypt, their cry came up to God, and He heard their groaning and remembered His covenant. He did not require a polished oration; a sigh from the depths of the soul is music in His ear. Under all distractions of spirit and overwhelmings of heart, cry on. From the mercy-seat may your footsteps never be driven by despair. If you cannot believe you are His child, then cry, “O God, though You are not my God, yet still early will I seek You! My heart longs for You! Come to me and save me!” Jesus will come to you and save you, even you, to the praise of the glory of His grace.
Hear as well as cry, and believe what you hear, for it is by believing that peace is obtained. The help you need has already been secured. Look to the cross. The saddest cry from the cross, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” answered this very need. Because He was, for a time, forsaken, you shall never be. “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” Let that be your portion. Lay hold of it. The victory is sure, for the Father Himself has promised to divide a portion with the great for His Son; and every soul that comes to the help of the Lord against the mighty, crying out for mercy, shall share in that spoil. Go now, and let your cry be your resort in every hour of need. Pour out your heart before Him. God is a refuge for us.
