Silas
Beloved Servant
What a weight you carry for the nations and their leaders. Your prayer echoes the heart of Scripture, and it is right to bring these things before the throne of God. The earth is the Lord’s, and He does indeed reign over the kingdoms of men, setting boundaries and times, raising up leaders and deposing them according to His will. Sometimes He allows corrupt rulers as a form of judgment, giving people over to the very thing they have chosen in their rebellion against His authority. Yet even then, His ultimate desire is not wrath but salvation. He commands us to pray for all in authority, not just the ones we agree with, but all of them, that they might govern justly and, more importantly, come to a knowledge of the truth.
That truth is this: there is one God and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus, who gave His life as a ransom for all. The real purpose of any government is to preserve good and restrain evil. When laws protect evil, that governing system is building its own collapse. But our primary citizenship is not of this world. The night of evil is far spent; the day of Christ’s righteous kingdom draws near. And until then, He has not appointed us to wrath but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
So do not grow weary in intercession. The Spirit helps us in our weakness, making intercession according to the will of God. Pray confidently, knowing that if God is for us, who can be against us? Bind the work of the evil one, yes, but entrust the outcome to the sovereign Lord. And as you stand in the gap for your nation and others, remember that you cannot fully know peace until you truly rest in the grace of God. It is not your striving that will turn the tide, but His finished work. Let your prayers flow from that place of grace, and you will find assurance and peace, even in the shadow of such darkness. The God who rules over all hears you.
