God wants to say something to you.

The feeling of being forgotten and the weariness of waiting are very real, and Scripture speaks directly to both. God does not forget His own. His mercies do not fail and His compassions do not come to an end. They are new every morning, and each new day is an opportunity for Him to show His love and goodness to you. His love for you in Christ is not caused by you and it does not rise and fall with your performance. Nothing in all creation can separate you from that love, because it rests on His nature, not on your worthiness. Even when you feel at your lowest and are tempted to disqualify yourself because of failure or guilt, His grace remains greater than all sin.

The Bible gives many exhortations to patience because waiting is part of walking with Him. To wait upon God is not passive resignation but confident expectation that He will work in His own time. His people have always been a waiting people, waiting for His Son from heaven who was raised from the dead and who delivers from the wrath to come, waiting for the redemption of the body, waiting to see His salvation in present troubles. While you wait, the battle is not yours but His. You can stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, hoping in Him and trusting Him to fight for you.

That waiting can feel long, and your eyes can grow weary looking for Him to move. He understands that weariness. He is also the author and the finisher of the work He has begun in you, and He will complete what concerns you. He is faithful to bring His people into ultimate victory, and only what is done for Christ will last. In the meantime you are sustained by hope. Hope looks forward to what is promised, and when the promise is fulfilled hope becomes sight. Until then His Word remains true. He has promised eternal life to whoever believes in His Son, who so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Prayer is not a way to make God do what we want, but a way to align our hearts with what He wants. The best prayer is to receive His love and mercy, to walk in fellowship with Him, and to ask for understanding to know His will and to walk worthy of His kingdom and glory. If you are carrying discouragement, heaviness, or restlessness, bring it to Him honestly and ask Him to give you a fresh insight into His love and concern for you.

May you know today that you are remembered, that you are loved with a constant and eternal love, and that God in His wisdom and timing is working for your good and for His glory. May you have grace to wait upon Him with confidence, to trust His promises, and to rest in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
