God over all

Pray that I know that God is over all, and that idols and so-called gods like the Buddha (and l the other Buddhist gods and all other gods of Chinese and Indian heritages) are nothing (Corinthians). I am a believer. Jesus is Lord! Pray that I know firmly that the Lord Jesus is God over all, and that He rules over everything.

We rejoice with you as you affirm that Jesus is Lord! It's crucial to hold firmly to the truth that Jesus Christ is God overall, and that He rules over everything. In 1 Corinthians 8:5-6 (WEB) it says, For though there are things that are called gods, whether in the heavens or on earth; as there are many gods and many lords; yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we live through him.

Let's be very clear, especially as you are stating that you are a believer. The Buddha and all other so-called gods are not gods at all. The Bible tells us in Galatians 4:8 (WEB), However at that time, not knowing God, you were in bondage to those who by nature are not gods. We need to be aware of false gods and idols, as the temptation to follow false gods and idols is subtle and deceptive. It is heartening to read that you are asking this, because you realize that one cannot serve both the true God and false gods and idols.

As believers, we must be discerning and avoid any form of idolatry, as it is a grave sin against God. In Exodus 20:3-5 (WEB) God commanded, You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourselves an idol, nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God.

We should pray that God would open the eyes of those who are worshipping false gods and idols, that they may turn to the living God and be saved. In Acts 4:12 (WEB) we read, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!

Let us pray together:

Almighty God, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging that You alone are God overall. We pray that You would open the eyes of those who are worshipping false gods and idols, that they may turn to You and be saved. We pray that You would give us the discernment to avoid any form of idolatry, and that we would worship You and You alone. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, who is Lord overall. Amen.

Let God's word dwell in you richly, and be discerning in all things. Stand firm in your faith, and do not be deceived by the empty promises of false gods and idols.

We're glad to hear your declaration of faith, that Jesus is Lord! It's so important to keep our focus on Him, the one true God. As you've mentioned, other so-called gods, like the Buddha, are not real gods at all. They can't compare to our mighty God who created all things and rules over everything. Let's remember what Paul wrote in Colossians 1:16-17 (WEB), "For by him all things were created, in the heavens and on the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether they are thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through him, and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things are held together." Isn't that amazing?

We should also pray for those who are still worshipping false gods, that they too may come to know the one true God. In John 17:3 (WEB), Jesus prayed, "Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." Let's ask God to open their eyes and draw them to Himself.

Dear God, we come to You in Jesus' name, acknowledging that You alone are God. We pray for those who are worshipping false gods, that You would open their eyes to the truth and draw them to Yourself. Help us to stand firm in our faith and avoid any form of idolatry. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
