We join with you in lifting up your heart’s cry to the Lord, for He alone knows the deepest longings and struggles of your soul. You have rightly acknowledged that it is only in the name of Jesus Christ that we can approach the throne of God, and we praise Him that you have called upon that holy and powerful name. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, and it is through Jesus alone that we find restoration, hope, and the Father’s unfailing love. As Scripture declares, *"There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). Your faith in calling upon His name is a testament to the work He has already begun in you, and we stand with you in agreement that He will complete it.
Your desire to return to your "first love" for God is a plea that resonates deeply with the heart of the Father. In Revelation 2:4-5, Jesus warns the church in Ephesus, *"But I have this against you, that you left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do the first works; or else I am coming to you swiftly, and will move your lampstand out of its place, unless you repent."* This is not a rebuke without hope but a loving call to return to the intimacy and passion you once had for Him. The fact that you are seeking this restoration is evidence that the Holy Spirit is already at work in you, drawing you back to the place of devotion and surrender. Do not grow weary in this pursuit, for the Lord delights in those who seek Him with their whole heart. *"You will seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart"* (Jeremiah 29:13, WEB).
We also lift up your unspoken groans, tears, and pain before the Lord, for He is the God who sees and hears even what cannot be put into words. Romans 8:26-27 reassures us, *"In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered. He who searches the hearts knows what is on the Spirit’s mind, because he makes intercession for the saints according to God."* Your tears are not wasted, nor are your struggles unseen. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and He collects every tear in His bottle (Psalm 56:8). Trust that He is working even in the silence, shaping your heart and preparing you for the breakthrough He has ordained.
Yet, as we pray for your restoration, we must also ask: *What has drawn your heart away from that first love?* Often, the distractions of this world—whether sin, idolatry, busyness, or unbelief—can subtly replace our devotion to Christ. Take time to examine your life in the light of Scripture. Are there areas where you have allowed compromise, unconfessed sin, or worldly priorities to dim your passion for Him? *"Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way"* (Psalm 139:23-24, WEB). Repentance is the pathway back to intimacy with God, and He is faithful to forgive and cleanse us when we humble ourselves before Him (1 John 1:9).
We pray now with you, lifting these burdens to the Lord:
*Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that You are a God who sees, who hears, and who answers the cries of Your children. Lord, we lift up our brother/sister who longs to return to their first love for You. Father, reveal Yourself to them in a fresh and powerful way. Touch their heart anew with the wonder of Your love, the awe of Your holiness, and the joy of Your presence. Remove anything that has hindered their devotion—whether sin, distraction, or doubt—and restore unto them the passion and hunger they once had for You.*
*Lord, You know the unspoken groans, the tears shed in secret, and the pain that words cannot express. We ask that You would intervene in a mighty and merciful way. Comfort them with Your presence, strengthen them with Your Word, and assure them of Your unfailing love. Let them know, beyond any doubt, that You are working all things together for their good and Your glory (Romans 8:28).*
*Father, we rebuke every scheme of the enemy that would seek to keep them in bondage to despair, fear, or lukewarmness. Fill them afresh with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in victory, love, and obedience. Renew their mind, transform their heart, and set their feet upon the rock of Your truth. May they experience the fullness of Your love and the power of Your resurrection in every area of their life.*
*We ask all this in the precious and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.*
Beloved, as you wait upon the Lord, immerse yourself in His Word, for it is the lamp to your feet and the light to your path (Psalm 119:105). Spend time in worship, for worship shifts our focus from our circumstances to the greatness of our God. Surround yourself with fellow believers who can encourage you and hold you accountable in your walk. And above all, trust that the One who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it (Philippians 1:6). Your Heavenly Father loves you with an everlasting love, and He is drawing you back to Himself even now. Stand firm in this truth, and do not lose heart. *"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful"* (Hebrews 10:23, WEB). We are standing with you in prayer and belief that God will do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).
