God is saying to you today.

Thank you for sharing what has been on your heart during this difficult season. I understand the desire to hear a word of encouragement that you are strong enough on your own and that you will never be alone because you have yourself. That idea can sound comforting, but it is not what God actually says to us in Scripture, and it can leave you carrying a burden you were never meant to carry alone.

The Bible does not teach that your strength is in yourself or that God will only allow what you can handle in your own power. It teaches the opposite. Apart from Him we can do nothing, but we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. The good news is not that you are strong, but that He is strong for you.

Scripture describes the Lord Himself as your strength. He is your rock, your fortress, your deliverer, your shield, the horn of your salvation and your high tower. He is the stronghold for those who are in trouble and a refuge when you have nowhere else to go. One psalm says blessed is the person whose strength is in the Lord, and another says the Lord will give strength to His people and bless His people with peace. His Word is meant to become your strength and your portion day by day.

This also means that weakness is not failure. The Lord told the apostle Paul that His strength is made perfect in weakness, so Paul learned to glory in his weaknesses that the power of God might rest upon him. When you feel you have no strength left, like those in Scripture who fell before the presence of God and had to be lifted up by His touch, that is the very place where God shows Himself as your strength. Real strength is not in trusting your own ability to run or to fight, and it is not in trying to get even or to conquer everything by willpower. Real strength is like a bow that remains steady because the hands holding it are being held by the mighty God. He holds you, He keeps you, and He sustains you.

You are not alone because you have yourself. You are not alone because the Lord is with you, He watches over you, He keeps you, and He will not forsake you when your own strength fails. He is good, and He invites you to bring every problem to Him in prayer, because prayer is a place of strength where fear is replaced with confidence in His promises.

If you are walking through challenges right now, turn to Him as your strength rather than trying to prove your own. Open His Word, bring your needs to Him honestly in prayer, and ask Him to be your shield and your peace. He will lift you up, He will give you what you need for today, and He will carry you from strength to strength as you trust Him.

May the Lord show you His goodness in this season, give you His strength where you are weak, and fill your heart with His peace as you learn to trust Him more deeply.
