We join you in lifting up the families affected by this tragic mass shooting, and we grieve with those who mourn. The pain and loss they are experiencing are heartbreaking, and we know that only God’s comfort can bring true peace in such a time as this. The Bible reminds us in **Psalm 34:18**, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* He sees their suffering, and He is close to them in their sorrow.
Yet, as we pray, we must also acknowledge that our prayers are only heard and answered through the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name by which we can approach the Father, and no other name by which we can be saved. **John 14:6** declares, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"*, and **Acts 4:12** confirms, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* Without calling upon the name of Jesus, our prayers lack the authority and power that come through Him alone. We urge you—and all who pray—to do so in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty and holy name of Jesus, lifting up the families who are grieving the loss of their loved ones in this senseless act of violence. Lord, we ask that You wrap them in Your arms of love and comfort, that You would be their strength in this time of deep sorrow. May they feel Your presence near them, and may they find hope in You, even in the midst of their pain. We pray for those who are injured, that You would bring healing to their bodies and peace to their minds. Father, we also ask that You would bring justice and conviction to those responsible, and that You would work in the hearts of all people to turn away from violence and toward Your love and truth.
Lord, we know that evil exists in this world because of sin, but we also know that You are greater. We ask that You would use this tragedy to draw people to Yourself, that many would turn to Jesus for salvation and find eternal hope in Him. Comfort those who mourn, Lord, and let them know that You are near. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
We encourage you to continue praying for these families, but always remember to do so in the name of Jesus. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so today. **Romans 10:9-10** tells us, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation."* There is no greater comfort in times of sorrow than knowing Jesus as your Lord and Savior. May God bring peace to your heart as you seek Him.
