Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer has been heard and your struggle is not hidden from the Lord. The loss of that first position through conflict with others, the closed doors when you tried to return, the strain of limited funds in that business, and now the painful restriction in your present job where even a thirty minute overlap keeps you from taking on additional work to provide for yourself, all of this weighs heavily, and God sees it fully.
The book of Job speaks to this kind of season. It is one of the oldest writings in Scripture, reaching back perhaps to the days of Abraham, yet though cultures and times have changed, the deepest issues of life remain the same. Job was a man whom God Himself called perfect and upright, one who loved God and hated evil. There was a real controversy in heaven concerning him, and the enemy had studied him carefully, watching for weakness and arguing that Job only served God because God had placed a hedge around him and blessed him so richly.
That background helps us understand your situation. You may feel as Job did, that you have tried to do what is right and yet hardship has come without clear explanation. Job himself did not understand his circumstances. He cried out from grief and pain, and Scripture faithfully records those cries. Not every word Job spoke in his anguish is to be taken as settled doctrine, for much of it was the voice of sorrow, but the record is there to show us that God allows honest cries and that He is still working even when it appears He has forsaken us. What happened to Job is given for our comfort, so that when we walk through loss and confusion we can know God has not abandoned His people.
Job's friends came intending to comfort him, but they became miserable comforters. They assumed suffering must mean hidden sin and told him he must be a hypocrite who needed to get right with God. Their counsel only added confusion. The truth they did speak is that God is fair and God is just. He does not deal with us carelessly. And Job's deepest longing was for someone to stand between him and God, to lay a hand upon both and bring him near. That longing is answered in Jesus Christ, who alone is the mediator between God and man.
In your case there is no reason to accept the false idea that closed doors or financial shortfalls prove God is against you. The enemy studies and accuses, but the Lord knows your heart, your desire to work faithfully, and your need for provision. He is able to open a placement that fits your hours without conflict and to provide what is needed without forcing you to compromise what is right.
I am praying for you that the Lord will guide you to a new job placement where the hours do not conflict and where you can work with peace and dignity. May He open a door that no one can shut, supply your daily needs, and give you assurance that He is near even when His ways are hard to understand. May He lift the weight of grief and anxiety and remind you that He has not forgotten you, that His hedge of care remains, and that through Jesus you have access to the Father who hears every prayer.
Father, in the name of Jesus, look upon this dear one who is seeking honest work and provision. You know the doors that have closed and the limitations placed upon her. Grant her favor, lead her to the right position at the right time, one that allows her to provide without conflict, and let her see Your hand supplying and sustaining. Give her peace in the waiting and faith to trust that You are working for good even now. Amen.
