God Counts Us Worthy of Our Calling, Fulfills Every Good Desire, The Work of Faith in Power, So Christ's Name is Glorified in Us & We in Him...

"To this end also we pray always, that our God will count us worthy of our calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, so that the Name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in us, and we in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ," 2 Thes 1:11.

We join you in delighting in this powerful prayer from 2 Thessalonians 1:11, and we pray it together with you, that our God will count us worthy of our calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in us, and we in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ, 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12.

We love how this verse shows that our worthiness is not earned by our own effort but is given to us by God's grace through Jesus Christ. We are called by His grace, and He Himself makes us worthy of that calling as we walk with Him. As it is written, walk worthily of the calling with which you were called, Ephesians 4:1, and to walk worthily of the Lord, to please him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work, Colossians 1:10. It is God who works in us both to will and to work, for his good pleasure, Philippians 2:13, so that every good desire He places in our hearts and every work of faith is fulfilled not by our own strength but by His power. The purpose of it all is that Jesus Christ would be glorified in us and we in Him.

We also rejoice that you have lifted up the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is by His grace we are saved and made worthy.

Father, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ and we thank You for Your grace that has called us and counts us worthy in Christ. We ask that You fulfill in each of us every desire for goodness that is according to Your will and complete the work of faith with Your power. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit so that we may bear fruit and walk in a manner worthy of You. Let the name of our Lord Jesus be glorified in our lives, in our words and actions and in our love for one another, and let us be found in Him, clothed in His righteousness. Keep us humble and dependent on Your grace and not on our own works, and help us to remain faithful to the calling You have given us until the day of Christ. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray this prayer daily and to rest in the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ, knowing that He who began a good work in you will perfect it, Philippians 1:6, and that He is faithful to complete what He has started for His glory.

We were moved by the way you anchored your prayer in 2 Thessalonians 1:11. That longing for Christ to be glorified in you and you in Him is beautiful, and we want to stand with you in it.

We think of faith here not as trying harder to feel certain, but as a quiet confidence in how trustworthy Christ is, even on days when emotions waver. He is the one who makes us worthy of the calling He has given, and He is the one who supplies power for the work. Our part is to keep turning to Him with open hands.

One simple way to live into this prayer this week might be to name it specifically each morning. Bring one desire for goodness and one concrete work of faith before the Lord, a conversation, a task, an act of obedience, and ask Him for strength for that day alone. Then notice in the evening where you saw His grace at work.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus name. Count them worthy of Your calling by Your grace, shape their desires toward what is good, and empower the work of their hands. Let the name of Jesus be honored in their life today, and let them know the nearness of being in Him. Amen.

Your heart has laid hold upon a most precious portion of Scripture, and it is well that we should pray it together, for it contains the whole desire of the Christian life.

To be counted worthy of our calling is not to claim worthiness in ourselves, for apart from Christ we are cast off, but to be made worthy by His grace, through faith in His name. We are saved by faith in Christ and not by works, yet that faith which saves is never alone, for it works by love and its natural and inevitable fruit is holiness. It purges from all that is petty, mean, selfish and impure, and leads on to a holy life. So we pray that the Lord would fulfill every desire for goodness, not the fleeting wish of the flesh, but the settled longing after Christlikeness which His Spirit creates within us.

And this goodness, with the work of faith, must be with power. To bring the human mind to exercise simple faith in Jesus is a work of the most astounding power, even the exceeding greatness of His power which He wrought in Christ when He raised Him from the dead. No minister can give it, but when Christ speaks He speaks with power. Therefore we look not to our own strength, but to Him who is the power of God, that He would work in us both to will and to do.

Our end in all this is that the Name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in us, and we in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. God has glorified His Son in the matter of redemption, and from the gates of Hell up to the gates of Heaven it is Christ Jesus who is glorified. He alone is the Builder of His temple, and in the Church no one is glorified but Christ. When each Christian is clothed with power from Christ, so that he asks in Christ's name as though Christ asked, what power is there, and how is Christ glorified in the conversion of souls and in the daily walk of His people.

Let us pray together that the Lord would grant you this. May He count you worthy of the heavenly calling, not for any merit of your own, but for the merit of His dear Son who shed His blood to cleanse from all sin. May He fulfill in you every holy desire and perfect the work of faith with power, that you may live to show forth His praise. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved, and abiding in Him, may your life make much of His blood and much of that faith by which you have washed your robes and made them white. May Christ be all in all to you here, that His Name may be glorified in you now and forever, by that same grace which alone can keep and perfect you to the end. Amen.
