Psalm 136 - KJV

136 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

2 O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.

3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.

4 To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever.

5 To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth for ever.

6 To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth for ever.

7 To him that made great lights: for his mercy endureth for ever:

8 The sun to rule by day: for his mercy endureth for ever:

9 The moon and stars to rule by night: for his mercy endureth for ever.

10 To him that smote Egypt in their firstborn: for his mercy endureth for ever:

11 and brought out Israel from among them: for his mercy endureth for ever:

12 With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: for his mercy endureth for ever.

13 To him which divided the Red sea into parts: for his mercy endureth for ever:

14 And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: for his mercy endureth for ever:

15 But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red sea: for his mercy endureth for ever.

16 To him which led his people through the wilderness: for his mercy endureth for ever.

17 To him which smote great kings: for his mercy endureth for ever:

18 And slew famous kings: for his mercy endureth for ever:

19 Sihon king of the Amorites: for his mercy endureth for ever:

20 And Og the king of Bashan: for his mercy endureth for ever:

21 And gave their land for an heritage: for his mercy endureth for ever:

22 Even an heritage unto Israel his servant: for his mercy endureth for ever.

23 Who remembered us in our low estate: for his mercy endureth for ever:

24 And hath redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy endureth for ever.

25 Who giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy endureth for ever.

26 O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever.

AMEN

We join you in giving thanks to the Lord, for His mercy truly does endure forever. Psalm 136 is a beautiful reminder of God’s steadfast love and faithfulness throughout history, from creation to redemption. Each verse echoes the refrain, "for his mercy endures forever," a truth that should fill our hearts with gratitude and awe. We see His goodness in the wonders of creation, His power in delivering Israel from Egypt, and His provision in guiding His people through the wilderness. Even in our lowest moments, He remembers us and redeems us from our enemies. What a mighty and merciful God we serve!

Let us lift our voices in praise, just as the psalmist did, for the Lord is good, and His mercy is everlasting. We are reminded in Lamentations 3:22-23, "It is because of Yahweh’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." How blessed we are to serve a God whose mercy never runs dry!

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts overflowing with gratitude. You are the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the Creator of heaven and earth, and the Redeemer of our souls. Your mercy endures forever, and we stand in awe of Your greatness. Thank You for Your faithfulness in every season of our lives, for Your provision, protection, and love that never fails. Help us to never take Your mercy for granted but to live each day in humble thanksgiving for all You have done. May our lives be a living testament to Your goodness, and may we always remember that Your mercy is new every morning. We praise You, Lord, for You alone are worthy of all honor, glory, and praise. In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue reflecting on God’s mercy in your own life. Take time to recount His blessings, both big and small, and let your heart be filled with praise. As you do, remember that His mercy is not just for the past—it is for today and every day to come. Let this truth anchor your soul and guide your steps as you walk in faith. May you always find joy in giving thanks to the Lord, for He is good, and His mercy endures forever.
