Gift of Healing

Join me in prayer for The Lord God to add someone to this prayer Group who has the Gift of Healing. RE 1 Cor 12.8 Let us agree in prayer in Jesus Name. ###

We join with you in agreement in Jesus' name for this request and we thank you for your desire to see the Lord's healing power at work among us.

We understand your heart in asking for the gift of healing to be present in this prayer group, and we agree that we serve a God who still heals. As it is written, Yahweh says I am Yahweh who heals you in Exodus 15:26 and He forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases in Psalm 103:3. We rejoice that you have come in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that we pray with confidence.

Your reference to 1 Corinthians 12:8 reminds us of the gifts of the Spirit, though we gently point out that the gift of healing is specifically mentioned in the next verse, to another faith by the same Spirit and to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12:9. The Word also teaches us that to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the profit of all in 1 Corinthians 12:7 and that all these work the one and the same Spirit, dividing to each one separately as he desires in 1 Corinthians 12:11. This shows us that the gifts are not assigned by our choosing alone, but are distributed by the Holy Spirit according to the will of God for the building up of the body of Christ. We are also encouraged to desire earnestly spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians 12:31 and to follow after love and earnestly desire spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians 14:1, so your desire is biblical and good when it is submitted to God's sovereignty.

We must also remember that while God does gift individuals, all healing ultimately comes from God Himself and not from the person who prays. We are not to put our faith in a gifted person but in the Lord Jesus Christ who is the Healer. We can and should pray for the sick directly, trusting the Lord to answer according to His perfect will, whether He chooses to heal instantly, gradually, or to give grace and strength through the trial.

We pray together with you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we thank You that You are the same yesterday, today and forever. We ask according to Your will that You would raise up and add to this prayer group those whom You have gifted with gifts of healings for the profit of all and for Your glory. Let Your Holy Spirit move freely among us, and let every gift be exercised in love, in humility, and in order. We pray that You would anoint our prayers for the sick, that the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick and the Lord will raise him up in James 5:15. Help us to seek first the Giver more than the gifts, and to grow in faith, love and holiness. If it is Your will to bring someone with this gift among us, we welcome what You provide, and we trust You to supply all that we need to minister effectively in Jesus' name. We ask that You would increase our faith to pray boldly and to see Your healing hand, and that all praise would go to Jesus Christ alone. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray earnestly for the sick among us, to lay hands and anoint with oil as Scripture directs, and to trust the Lord's timing and wisdom. We will continue to agree with you that God will provide exactly what this group needs to fulfill His purposes.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We appreciate you sharing this desire with us and inviting us to agree together in prayer.

We join you in asking the Lord to provide for this prayer group according to His wisdom. We are encouraged that you want to see His power at work among you and that you recognize these gifts come from the Holy Spirit as He chooses to distribute them, to build up the body and make Christ known. More than any particular gift, we know God looks for faithful, loving people who bear His fruit as they care for one another, and He often works through ordinary believers gathered faithfully in His name.

As you continue to pray, we encourage you to keep meeting together consistently and to remain open to how God is already at work in your group. Sometimes He raises up someone already among you, and sometimes He brings someone new in His timing. Staying connected with your pastors or elders as you seek discernment together can also be a steady help.

Father, we thank You for this group that wants to seek You together. We ask that You would lead and provide in the way You know is best, and that You would deepen their love for You and for one another as they pray. Give them wisdom and unity as they wait on You, and let Your presence be their comfort and strength. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Your desire to see the Lord add to this prayer group one who has the gift of healing is a fitting subject for intercessory prayer, and we do join with you in it in the name of Jesus.

We are taught in Scripture that God has set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. These gifts are not of our own procuring but are freely given of God according to His sovereign will, that the whole body may be edified. You do well to covet earnestly the best gifts, and we may ask the Lord that He would raise up and send among you those whom He has gifted for the help and healing of His people, as it shall please Him and for His glory.

Yet remember with the apostle that there is a more excellent way. Charity or love is a grace far more excellent than any of the spiritual gifts of which he had just before been speaking. Grace itself is to be preferred to gifts. Therefore while we pray for gifts of healing, let us pray still more that love may abound, that grace may reign, and that Christ Himself, who is the sum and substance of salvation and the unspeakable gift of God, may be magnified among you. For salvation is wholly of grace, not of works, and every part of it from its Alpha to its Omega is the gift of the heavenly King.

Be encouraged that intercessory prayer is the sweetest prayer God ever hears and it is exceedingly prevalent. What wonders it has wrought, for it has stayed plagues and turned captivity, as it is written, The Lord turned again the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends. It was the bow in the cloud, the dove bearing the olive branch. So also prayer on behalf of others knits our hearts together in love as the heart of one man and fits us to become God's instruments. Prayer is an inventory of wants, a confession of human emptiness and an application to divine wealth, and God does hear prayer. Some of us are as certain of this as that we breathe, for we have tried it and proved it.

Let us then agree together and pray. O Lord our God, who gives every good and perfect gift, we come before Thy mercy seat in the name of Thy Son Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation. If it be Thy will, add to this company such as Thou hast gifted with healings and helps, that they may serve not for display but for the edification of Thy people and the glory of Thy name. Grant unto all a greater measure of love, that excellent way, and pour out Thy Spirit that we might know the things which are freely given to us of God. Above all we thank Thee for Thine unspeakable gift, Christ Jesus our Lord. Teach us to pray for one another earnestly, habitually and fervently, and to make every gift Thou givest a plea for another gift. Hear us, O Father, for we ask in the name of Jesus, who ever liveth to make intercession for us. Amen.

We join you in prayer in the name of Jesus and give thanks for your desire to see the Lord at work among His people.

You have asked according to 1 Corinthians 12:8 for God to add to your prayer group one who has the gift of healing, and we agree with you to bring this before the Father. Scripture teaches that the Holy Spirit distributes gifts to each one just as He wills, for the common good and for the building up of the body. One receives a word of wisdom, another knowledge, another faith, another gifts of healing, another workings of miracles, all from the same Spirit. We cannot command the Spirit, but we can ask the Lord of the harvest, who is Himself the giver, to supply what is needed for His purposes.

We also remember that there is a gift of prayer itself. As it was in the early church, God gave to some a special grace to pray with deep groaning and compunction for what is truly profitable for all, since we often do not know what we should pray for as we ought, and the Spirit Himself helps our weakness and intercedes for us. Therefore we pray not only for a particular gift to be present, but that the whole group would be taught by the Spirit to pray according to the will of God.

Prayer is a great weapon. If we first make God favorable to us by prayer and supplication early in the morning and at night, we go forth to the work of the day with security, even when the day brings its storms and battles. It is good to enjoy the prayer of the saints, and it is good to be watchful ourselves, for God hears those who draw near with a sincere heart.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You hear us always through Your Son Jesus Christ. We thank You for the gifts of Your Spirit given to Your church. In Your wisdom and mercy, provide for this prayer group as You see best. If it is Your will, raise up among them or send to them one through whom You will work healing for Your glory, and in all things give them love, unity, and faith to seek You above any gift. Teach them to pray as they ought, to ask for what is truly profitable, and to trust Your answer. Grant healing according to Your perfect will, and above all grant grace to know Christ and to walk in obedience to Him. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Continue steadfast in prayer, seeking the Giver more than the gift, and trusting that He who knows what is best will supply all that is needed.

Thank you for bringing this request before the Lord and inviting others to agree with you in prayer. Your desire to see God bring healing is good, and Scripture is clear that God does heal the sick.

It helps to remember how the Bible speaks of these gifts. The Spirit distributes gifts as He wills, for the profit of the whole body, not for personal display. The phrase used is gifts of healing, and any time God touches and heals a person, a gift of healing has been received. In that sense many have received gifts of healing over a lifetime. At the same time not everyone has the same gift or the same operation of a gift. One person may be gifted in one area and another in a different area, and the same gift can work differently in different lives. This is why we are taught not to think a gift is unimportant because it is not public. The parts of the body that are not seen are given abundant honor by God, and the quiet ministry of intercessory prayer that reaches beyond our own needs to bring the needs of others, of the community and of the world before God, is one of the most vital and powerful ministries, even when no one notices it.

Prayer itself is meant to accomplish God's will, not to compel our own. It begins with God and His purposes which He makes known to our hearts, and we then offer those purposes back to Him in prayer. The Spirit helps us in this, sometimes with words we can express and sometimes with groanings beyond words, always according to the will of God in the particular situation. The earnest, heartfelt prayer of a righteous person avails much, and Jesus said that if two or three agree on earth concerning anything, it shall be done by the Father. That agreement is precious.

The Bible also gives a simple pattern for the sick among us. They are to call for the elders of the church to anoint with oil in the name of the Lord and offer the prayer of faith, and the Lord will raise them up. God desires to meet you according to your need and to reveal Himself as the Lord who heals. Love remains greater than any gift, and even faith that could move mountains is nothing without love, so we seek gifts with love and for the building up of others.

So let us agree together now. Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this prayer group before You. You know every need represented here. We ask according to Your will that You would work healing as You choose, that You would raise up those You have gifted to serve this body, especially in intercession and in caring for the sick, and that You would be known among these believers as the Lord our healer. Give wisdom to discern Your will, faith to trust You in every situation, and love to use whatever You entrust for the good of the whole body. We thank You that You hear when we pray according to Your will, and we trust You to answer in the way that brings You glory. Amen.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We have continued to stand with you in asking the Lord to add someone to this prayer fellowship who has the gift of healing as you requested according to 1 Cor 12:8 and 1 Cor 12:9 where we are taught that the Holy Spirit gives gifts of healing for the common good.

We pray together with you in Jesus Name that the Lord will raise up and send the one He has gifted and appointed to join us, that His gifts would be exercised in love and order for the building up of the body and for His glory, and that those who are suffering would experience His healing touch. We ask the Father to lead and direct this person to us in His perfect timing and will, and we pray this in Jesus Name.

If your request was answered and the Lord has provided someone with this gift or has otherwise brought healing, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice and give thanks together. If your request does not seem to have been answered yet, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
