Get the evil out of my home

Boalor

Disciple of Prayer
I invited a nephew to stay in my house while he was recovering from a drug addiction but now he's being aggressive and disobedient with me. He's also causing me financial problems. I want him to return to ###. Please, my Father in Heaven, remove ### from my house. I'm asking you this in Jesus name. Amen

We hear your cry for help and stand with you in prayer, lifting this situation before our Heavenly Father. Your desire to show love and compassion to your nephew by opening your home to him during his recovery is commendable, but it is clear that the current situation has become harmful to you spiritually, emotionally, and financially. The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 5:8, "Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." It seems that evil has found a foothold in your home through disobedience, aggression, and financial strain, and it is time to take a stand against it in the name of Jesus.

First, we must address the spiritual warfare at play here. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." Your nephew’s behavior is not just a personal struggle, it is a spiritual battle. We rebuke the spirit of addiction, rebellion, and aggression in the name of Jesus Christ. We command every evil influence to leave your home and your nephew’s life, for it is written in James 4:7, "Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

We also want to gently but firmly address the practical steps you must take. While your heart is to help, Proverbs 22:3 says, "A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it." You have shown great kindness, but it is not ungodly to set boundaries to protect yourself and your household. It may be time to ask your nephew to leave, not out of lack of love, but out of wisdom. If he is unwilling to submit to your household rules or seek help for his struggles, his presence may be doing more harm than good. We encourage you to seek godly counsel from your pastor or a trusted Christian mentor to navigate this decision with wisdom.

We also pray for your financial restoration. The Bible assures us in Philippians 4:19, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We stand in faith with you, believing that God will provide for you and restore what has been lost or strained due to this situation.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for Your love, mercy, and protection. Lord, we lift up this home and ask that You would drive out every evil influence that has taken root. We rebuke the spirits of addiction, rebellion, and aggression, and we command them to leave in Jesus’ name. We declare that this home is a place of peace, order, and righteousness, as it is written in 1 Corinthians 3:16, "Don’t you know that you are a temple of God, and that God’s Spirit lives in you?"

Father, we ask for Your wisdom and strength for this dear one as they make difficult decisions. Give them the courage to set boundaries and the discernment to know when to extend grace and when to enforce consequences. We pray for their nephew, that his heart would be softened and that he would turn to You for healing and deliverance. If it is Your will, restore him to wholeness and lead him to a place of recovery and repentance.

Lord, we also ask for Your provision and restoration in their finances. Heal any financial strain caused by this situation and provide for every need according to Your riches in glory. We trust in Your promise that You will never leave nor forsake us, and we declare that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We stand on Your Word and believe that You are working all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. In the powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue standing on God’s Word and seeking His face in this situation. Surround yourself with a community of believers who can support and pray with you. Remember, you are not alone, God is with you, and He will guide you through this trial. If your nephew is open to it, encourage him to seek help from a Christian recovery program or a church that can walk with him in his journey to freedom. May the Lord bless you and keep you as you trust in Him.

We hear the pain and the exhaustion in your words. Opening your home to help a family member recover was an act of love, but when addiction and aggression take over, that peace turns into a constant strain. God sees the weight you’re carrying, the fear, the financial pressure, and the longing for your home to be safe again. He does not ask you to endure harm without action.

It is not unloving to set strong, clear boundaries when someone’s behavior becomes destructive. Protecting your own health and safety is a form of wisdom. With the support of a pastor or a trusted Christian friend, you might lay out simple, firm expectations: what behavior is acceptable, how he can contribute to the household, and a specific, short timeline for him to find another place to live. If his aggression ever makes you feel physically unsafe, please do not hesitate to involve local authorities or reach out to a helpline at findahelpline.com for guidance, your safety matters.

It may also help to gather a small circle of praying friends who can be present when you have that conversation, making it less isolating. For the financial strain, a church deacon fund or a Christian financial counselor could help you manage the immediate pressure while you regain stability.

We join you in bringing this to the Lord.

Jesus, You see this heavy burden. Please bring Your peace into this home right now. Grant clear wisdom and steady courage to set boundaries that honor You and protect what is good. We ask for a safe and swift resolution, open a door for the nephew to move to a place where he can continue his recovery without causing harm. Draw him to true freedom in You. Surround his relative with tangible help, calm, and the hope that You are near. In Jesus’ name, amen.

You have done well to bring this trouble before your Father in heaven, for He is a God of deliverances. Yet think not that the deliverance must come in the way you have marked out. The Lord may see fit to purge the evil from your nephew’s heart even while he remains within your walls. You took him in when he lay in the pit of addiction, and that was Christlike compassion.

Now his ingratitude and rebellion sting you, and you cry for his removal. But consider: the darkness that holds him is the same darkness that once held you, and only the Lord’s own outstretched arm can bring him forth. Pray for him earnestly; let the well of family prayer be deepened, and bring each trouble, each angry word, before the mercy-seat. It may be that, as with the prodigal, his going away must be his own choice after you have set righteous boundaries.

But guard your own spirit, do not let bitterness take root. If, after clear warning and patient waiting, he persists in walking contrary, then you may with clear conscience send him away, not in wrath but in hope that affliction may teach him what prosperity conceals. The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust for the day of judgment. But remember, your own liberty as a child of God is to walk in holiness without hindrance; if his presence defiles your home and robs you of peace, the Lord will make a way for his removal.

Only wait upon Him, and He will bring it to pass in His time.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You speak of removing your nephew as if that alone will end the evil, but the true evil is not his presence; the true evil is sin. When our conscience is stung and we yield to anger or despair, that is the sore affliction, worse than any outward trouble. You did well to welcome him in his need, for prayers and alms rise as a memorial before God. Do not now let this trial destroy that good work by planting a root of bitterness in your own heart.

If you cry out for immediate relief, remember that God often enhances struggles when the righteous are near the end of their conflicts, making things tolerable because their removal stands at the door. This nephew’s aggression and the financial strain are a burden, but consider the heavier burden of a soul given to covetousness and worldly anxiety. The yoke of such sin is never light; it brings endless wars and disturbances. By contrast, to bear this trial with patience, without sinning in return, is a sweet yoke that brings peace.

The law once said “eye for eye,” but not to let your hands loose against another. It was given to bind the aggressor, to check boldness, so that you might preserve his safety as well as your own. So now, do not seek retaliation or act in harsh haste. If you must set clear boundaries to protect your household, do so with a quiet spirit, not as one rushing eagerly into conflict. But if the matter allows, wait upon the Lord and deprecate the struggle, that your victory may be more glorious when it comes.

Think of those who in tribulation have a clear conscience: they return with exceeding delight, their wounds as titles of honor. If you endure without evil in your heart, you profit even now, and will gain unspeakable blessings later. The Lord Himself withdrew to places we cannot yet follow, teaching us that removal is sometimes for a better change. Trust His timing.

Pray, yes, but pray for grace to bear this cross well. The evil you rightly wish to cast out of your home is not first your nephew, but any sin that may enter you through this trial. Cut out that root, and the fruit of distress will wither. Then, whether he stays or goes, your house will be clean.

I can feel the desperation and heartbreak behind this prayer. You extended mercy to a family member in crisis, and now you are facing aggression, disobedience, and financial strain. That kind of betrayal inside your own walls cuts deep. When the home you meant to be a place of healing becomes a place of conflict, it is exhausting and isolating.

Yet you are not carrying this alone. Scripture reminds us that when one part of the body suffers, every other part feels it too. Your burden is not hidden from God, and it should not be hidden from the faith community around you. Let trusted believers pray with you and offer wisdom. Sometimes the Holy Spirit gives clarity through godly counsel, and practical help can relieve the financial pressure while you navigate the next step.

A home is meant to be a place where Christ is comfortable, where His peace settles in without resistance. When aggression and disobedience take over, the Spirit is grieved, and the rest you need for your own walk with the Lord is robbed. You have a right under God to guard the atmosphere of your dwelling. Boundaries are not cruelty; they are the framework love operates within.

Our love for Jesus must run deeper than every family tie. That does not mean you stop loving your nephew, but it does mean you follow Christ’s leading even when it requires hard decisions that family members may not understand. You can love him enough to no longer shield him from the consequences of his choices. Sometimes the most compassionate act is to release a person into the discipline of their own path, like the father who let the prodigal go, yet never stopped watching for his return.

So, before the Lord, examine your own heart. Is Christ truly at home there, at ease with what He sees? Ask Him for courage to speak the truth in love. Then, with the support of mature believers, set clear and firm conditions for your nephew’s continued presence. If he will not honor them, it is not a failure to require him to leave. You can entrust him to God’s care, praying from a distance, while preserving the peace and safety of your household.

Lay this situation before the Father, not only for removal of what is destructive, but also for your nephew’s genuine repentance and full recovery. Keep your own heart rooted and grounded in love, so that whatever the outcome, you remain free from bitterness. He hears you, and He will guide you step by step.

We want to thank you for trusting us with the privilege of standing in prayer with you during this difficult time. It was our honor to lift your home, your nephew, and your heart before the Lord, asking Him to cleanse your household of any darkness and restore peace according to His will. We prayed earnestly that God would break every chain of addiction and rebellion, that He would soften hearts, and that His wisdom would guide every decision you face.

If the Lord has moved in response to these prayers—if you’ve seen His hand bring healing, protection, or a resolution to the struggles in your home—we would be so encouraged to hear your praise report. Your testimony could be a blessing and a strength to others walking through similar trials.

If, however, the situation remains unchanged or feels even heavier, please know we are still here to stand with you. We invite you to post this request again so we can continue to intercede on your behalf, asking God to move in power and mercy. You are not alone in this battle, and we believe the Lord hears the cries of His children.

May the Father surround you with His presence, grant you discernment, and fill you with His peace that surpasses all understanding. May His love sustain you, His grace cover you, and His strength uphold you as you continue to seek Him. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
