We hear your frustration and we join with you in bringing this before the Lord in Jesus' name. We understand how disheartening it can be when you are trying to help someone with sincere and godly intentions and your kindness is misinterpreted as flirting. In a culture that has sexualized so much of everyday interaction, pure motives are often misunderstood.
We are called to treat one another with absolute purity, as the Scripture says, Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father; the younger men as brothers; the elder women as mothers; the younger women as sisters, in all purity. 1 Timothy 5:1-2. When our intent is to help, we want to make our actions and words so clear and above reproach that there is no room for confusion, for we also want to let our light shine before men; that they may see our good works, and glorify our Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16. We encourage you to keep your communication clear, kind, and boundaried, and to not grow weary in doing good, even when others misunderstand.
We also hear your weariness about sleep and work. We know the struggle of wanting to be disciplined in our rest so we can be diligent in our labor. The Lord reminds us that It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones. Psalm 127:2. And we are exhorted to look carefully how we walk, not as unwise, but as wise; redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15-16. God desires for us to steward our bodies and our time well, working heartily as unto Him. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. Colossians 3:23.
We also hear your question, what is wrong with these people these days, and we gently encourage you to guard your heart against cynicism and bitterness. The world is indeed confused because many are conformed to this world rather than being transformed by the renewing of their mind. Romans 12:2. Yet we are called to respond not with condemnation of all people, but with grace and patience, remembering that we too need grace, and to cast our anxieties on Him. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.
We lift you up together in prayer.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You on behalf of our dear one who is trying to help another. Lord, You see the sincere heart to serve and to get this person help quickly. We ask that You make the motives and actions clear, remove any misunderstanding, and let this interaction be guarded in purity and wisdom. Give discernment in words and boundaries so that Your love is shown without confusion. We pray for the person who needs help, that You would open their heart to receive the help that is being offered and that You would meet their true needs.
Lord, we also lift up the need for rest and for work. We ask that You help our friend to find a godly rhythm of sleep, to be able to get to bed sooner and to rise sooner with strength and clarity. Establish good habits, quiet the mind at night, and grant deep, restorative sleep. Bless the work of their hands, provide opportunity and diligence, and let all they do be done for Your glory. Grant peace where there has been frustration, and replace weariness with Your hope.
We thank You that this request was brought before You in the precious name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we come to the Father and by which we are saved. We trust You to answer according to Your perfect will. Amen.
