We have heard your cry about this struggle with gambling and the emptiness and loss you are feeling, and we join together to bring you before the Lord in Jesus' name.

We want to gently but truthfully address what you are facing. Gambling feeds on the love of money and the desire for quick gain, which God warns us leads to harm. Scripture tells us For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows 1 Timothy 6:10. It also calls us to be faithful stewards of what God has entrusted to us and to be content with what we have, for it says Be content with what you have, for he has said, I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you Hebrews 13:5. The emptiness you feel is real, because money and the thrill of the wager can never satisfy the soul. Only Christ can fill that void, and He invites those who are weary and burdened to come to Him for rest Matthew 11:28.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and hope for true freedom. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not yet placed your trust in Him, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for with that faith you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is through His forgiveness and power that chains like addiction can be broken.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear one who is bound by gambling and weighed down by loss and emptiness. Lord, we ask for Your mercy and forgiveness, and for Your power to break this addiction. Create in them a clean heart and renew a right spirit within them. Help them to turn away from the temptation and to walk in Your way. Your Word promises No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13, so we ask You to make that way of escape clear and give them strength to take it. Heal the brokenheartedness they feel, for You are near to those who have a broken heart, and save those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. Fill their emptiness with Your presence and teach them to seek first Your Kingdom and righteousness. We pray You will provide for their financial needs according to Your riches, for My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19, and help them to learn contentment and faithful stewardship. Lead them to godly counsel, to an accountability partner and to a Bible believing church where they can confess this struggle and receive support. Transform them by the renewing of their mind Romans 12:2 so that they no longer conform to the pattern of this world but live for You. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our only hope and deliverer, amen.

We encourage you to take practical steps in repentance and faith. Cut off access to gambling as fully as you are able, blocking websites, avoiding places and influences that trigger the desire, and putting your finances under the oversight of a trusted Christian family member or counselor. Confess this struggle to a pastor or mature believer and ask them to hold you accountable daily, for we are called to bear one another's burdens. Replace the time and thought spent on gambling with prayer, reading Scripture, and serving others. Remember that God is not condemning you without hope, but He is calling you to turn from what harms you and to find fullness of joy in Him. If you will walk with Christ day by day, He will restore what has been broken and give you a future filled with purpose and peace.

We're so glad you wrote to us. It takes courage to name what's happening, especially when you feel empty and weighed down by losses. We want you to know we are with you in prayer and you are not alone in this struggle.

Gambling can quickly take over more than money. It can affect how you feel, your relationships, and your sense of hope for the future, which is why that emptiness makes sense. Change often comes not just by trying harder alone, but with steady support around you.

One helpful next step we encourage is to reach out for personal support soon. That could be a trusted pastor or mature friend who can walk with you, plus a professional counselor who understands gambling and a financial counselor who can help you look at the practical money pressures without shame. When those supports can communicate and work together, care tends to be steadier and more complete, covering emotional, relational, financial and spiritual needs. A local support group like Gamblers Anonymous has also helped many find ongoing accountability.

If you have not already, please consider connecting with a counselor or medical professional in your area as you seek freedom. We will keep praying for wisdom for each decision ahead.

Father, we lift our friend to You. You see the loss and the emptiness and the desire to be free. Give strength for today, wise help and honest community, and guidance for each step forward. Lead toward healing and hope. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your honest cry about this emptiness and great loss has been heard, and there is hope for deliverance in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The loss you feel is real, and the emptiness that follows gambling is not strange to God. Scripture asks what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul, and it teaches that riches and the love of them often bring slavery and anxiety rather than profit. When the soul is weighed against gold, the gold is found to be a fearful loss. The chase after gain through gambling promises fullness but leaves the heart hollow, because the soul was made for heaven and for God Himself, not for chance.

Yet the gospel brings a greater deliverance. Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification there we must also look for sanctification, for as we are justified through Jesus Christ we must also expect to receive power to be made holy from a heavenly source. The Word says He has delivered us from the power of darkness, and this is not only a doctrine to be believed but an experience to be known. If we can go into sin just occasionally by way of pleasure it proves we are strangers to the deliverance which Christ gives to His people, but when He delivers, He breaks the chain.

That deliverance rests upon a ransom that God Himself has provided. The prisoner is ready to go down to the pit, but there comes undeserved deliverance, for the King's own Son has borne the penalty of iniquities. God says, I have found a ransom. Nobody would have thought of that way of deliverance from the pit through a ransom if God had not thought of it, and because He has found it, deliverance is certain and already accomplished for all who trust in Christ. The clock of mercy can strike in heaven the hour of your deliverance, for the time had come according to His purpose.

The Lord often uses loss as chastening, and He can make loss to confer gain. Sickness can bring health to the soul, and loss can bring true riches when it drives us to Christ. He brought His people forth with silver and gold, and our deliverance in Christ is attended with enrichment, not of the purse only but of the heart, with peace within our borders and joy that the world cannot give. What you have lost cannot compare with what He is willing to give, a new heart, a clear conscience, and power to walk in freedom.

So turn fully to Christ today and rest your soul upon Him alone for salvation. Confess this sin to God without excuse, and bring it into the light before a faithful pastor or mature believer who can walk with you and hold you accountable. Cut off every access to gambling, put away what leads you back, commit your finances to honest stewardship and to the counsel of others, and seek the daily strength of prayer and the Word. Do not speak to the winds or to the pitiless sea, for God hears those who trust in Him and He will yet come to your deliverance.

Let us pray for you. Father, have mercy upon this soul who feels empty and bound. For the sake of Your Son who is the ransom, forgive sin and break the power of this addiction. Deliver from the power of darkness and translate into the kingdom of Your dear Son. Give a hatred for this sin, strength to turn from it, and faith to trust Christ alone. Restore what has been broken, teach true stewardship, and let this life not die but live and declare the works of the Lord. Grant that this trouble may become a testimony of Your free grace, that all the honor of deliverance may be Yours alone. In Jesus name, Amen.
