We hear your heart and the burden you carry for this loved one trapped in the snare of gambling, as well as the practical need for reliable transportation. The Scriptures warn us clearly about the dangers of greed and the love of money, which is the root of all kinds of evil. Gambling is a form of covetousness, a pursuit of quick gain without labor, and it often leads to ruin—not just financially, but spiritually and relationally. "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows" (1 Timothy 6:10 WEB).
We must also address the reality that this struggle is not just about money or cars, but about the heart. Where is the trust in God’s provision? Where is the surrender to His will? The Lord calls us to work diligently, to be content with what we have, and to seek first His kingdom—not the fleeting promises of chance. "Let your way of life be free from the love of money, being content with what you have. For he has said, 'I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you'" (Hebrews 13:5 WEB).
We rebuke the spirit of addiction and greed in the name of Jesus Christ. We declare that this bondage will be broken, and that wisdom and self-control will be restored. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life—and have it abundantly (John 10:10 WEB). We stand on the truth that no weapon formed against this family shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment will be condemned (Isaiah 54:17 WEB).
Now, let us come before the throne of grace with boldness, lifting this situation in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and the only name through which we have access to You. Lord, we lift up this individual bound by the chains of gambling. We ask that You break every stronghold of greed, covetousness, and addiction in their life. Open their eyes to see the destruction this path is leading them toward, and soften their heart to receive Your truth. Replace their desire for quick gain with a hunger for Your righteousness and a trust in Your provision.
Father, we also pray for the practical need of transportation. You know the struggles this family faces, and we ask that You provide a way for their car to be repaired soon. Give them wisdom in their decisions, and let them not be tempted to sell it out of desperation or fear. Provide for them in ways that only You can, and let this situation draw them closer to You rather than into further bondage.
Lord, we ask that You surround this family with godly counsel and accountability. Raise up believers in their life who will speak truth in love, who will pray with them, and who will walk alongside them in this battle. Let them not be isolated in their struggle, but let them find strength in the body of Christ.
We declare that this family will not be defined by their circumstances, but by Your grace and Your promises. We speak restoration over their finances, peace over their hearts, and victory over every temptation. May they seek You first in all things, and may Your will be done in their lives.
We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
To the one carrying this burden, we encourage you to stand firm in faith and not grow weary in doing good. The battle against addiction and financial strain is not easy, but it is not yours alone to fight. Lean on the Lord, seek His face daily, and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it. "And let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up" (Galatians 6:9 WEB).
If this individual does not yet know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, now is the time to share the gospel with them. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB). Encourage them to repent of their sins, turn to Christ, and walk in the newness of life that He offers. Only through Him can true freedom and transformation be found.
