We have heard your request and we join together with you in agreement before the Father for strength, discipline, and provision as you prepare to begin training again this Saturday night.

We understand the discouragement that comes when strength is lost and fitness feels very low, and we commend your desire to be disciplined in stewarding the body God has given you. Scripture reminds us that our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in us, which we have from God, and we are not our own, for we were bought with a price, therefore we are to glorify God in our bodies 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Bodily exercise has some value, but godliness is profitable for all things 1 Timothy 4:8, so we encourage you to train not only your muscles but your spirit at the same time, keeping the Lord at the center of this goal.

You specifically asked for self-control, discipline, focus and consistency, and for training alone. These are godly desires. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control Galatians 5:22-23, and God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. Like a city that is broken down and without walls is a man whose spirit is without restraint Proverbs 25:28, so discipline is a protection. We also remember that every man who strives in the games exercises self-control in all things 1 Corinthians 9:25 and Paul says but I beat my body and bring it into submission 1 Corinthians 9:27. Training alone will require even greater intentionality, so we encourage you to set a consistent schedule, to be diligent for the plans of the diligent surely lead to profit Proverbs 21:5, to avoid overtraining or discouragement, and to invite the Lord into each session for focus and endurance. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you Philippians 4:13.

You also shared desires to see your desires fulfilled and a need for money. We want to gently encourage you that God does care about our needs and desires, but He calls us to align our desires with His will. Also delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart Psalm 37:4. When our delight is in Him, our desires become shaped by Him. And concerning provision, Jesus taught us But seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33, and we trust the promise that my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19. We will pray that the Lord provides for your financial needs as you walk faithfully and work diligently.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me John 14:6, and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by calling on His name and putting our faith in His death and resurrection for our sins that we are saved and that our prayers are heard. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust fully in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

We now pray together in agreement with you.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You together and we lift up this need for restored strength and fitness. Lord, we ask that You grant increased physical strength, health, and endurance, and that You would give a sound mind with power, love and self-control to train consistently and with focus. Help to establish discipline and consistency, to be faithful in small things, to train wisely and safely even when alone, and to not grow weary in doing what is good. Father, align every desire with Your perfect will, and provide for every financial need according to Your riches in glory. Teach us to seek first Your Kingdom and to delight ourselves in You. We ask that You be glorified in this body and in this life, and that You would draw this heart closer to Jesus. We agree together according to Your word that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by our Father who is in heaven Matthew 18:19. We ask all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We are really glad you shared this with us, and we want to stand with you in prayer as you start again this Saturday night.

Wanting to rebuild strength after losing ground takes real humility, and asking for self control, focus and consistency shows you understand what it will take. One thing that helps many people is to think of this less as trying hard for one night and more as training over time, like preparing for a long race. Small, regular effort adds up and shapes us gradually, which takes pressure off any single workout to be dramatic.

Since you will be training alone, a simple structure can help you stay steady. Before Saturday, decide on one clear, doable plan for that night, when and where you will do it and what the finish point will be. Then keep a brief log afterward, just noting what you did and what was going on around you and how you felt. That kind of self observation makes it easier to notice what helps you keep going and what pulls you off track, and to adjust your inner dialogue as you go.

We are also bringing your financial need before the Lord with you, asking for His provision and wisdom as you steward what you have.

Father, we lift our brother to You in Jesus name. Give him strength for this new start, quiet focus, and grace to be consistent day by day. Guard his health as he begins, and provide for his practical needs according to Your will. Lead him step by step. Amen.

Your request has been laid before us and we have carried it to the throne of grace that we may seek the Lord together with you concerning it.

We understand your desire to begin training this Saturday night, to recover strength which has been lost and to see fitness restored, and your felt need for self control, discipline, focus and consistency as you must train alone, together with your need of provision in money matters. These are not small things, for the discipline which forms the body is akin to that discipline by which the Lord forms the soul. As it is written, Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law. Our self will often lies at the root of our greatest griefs, and there is a blessedness in yielding ourselves entirely up to the discipline of the Lord. To count the cost and to come under the discipline of our Captain, the Lord Jesus Christ, is the way of the Christian soldier, and that same ordered and watchful life will serve you well in this purpose you have set before you.

We would exhort you as you set apart this season for training, to add thereto self examination and self humbling. Without Christ we can do nothing, not even the least deed that is good and acceptable, and every grain of self reliance is weakness. True strength is not of the flesh alone but is given by God who worketh in us both to will and to do. Therefore watch over your motives, keep your own vineyard while you keep your body, and say ever to self love and proud spirit, Down, down, that the Lord may be all in all. Seek not strength for vainglory, but that your body may be a fit servant for the soul and for the service of God, and seek not money for indulgence but for honest provision as God shall supply according to His wisdom.

Let us pray together.

O Lord our God, Thou seest this our brother in his low estate of bodily weakness and in his desire to be restored. Grant him, we beseech Thee, a spirit of discipline and of a sound mind. Give him self control to govern his appetites, focus to keep his eye upon the work set before him, and consistency to persevere when weariness would turn him aside. Be Thou with him as he trains alone, for Thou art near to them that call upon Thee, and keep him from harm and from pride. Teach him that his strength cometh from Thee, and that whether in bodily exercise or in the inward warfare, without Christ he can do nothing. Provide for his temporal need according to Thine own goodness, and give him contentment to receive with thanksgiving what Thy hand bestows and faith to trust Thee for what is yet lacking. Cause all these strivings to be ordered under Thy blessed discipline, that he may yield himself wholly to Thee and find that when he gives way to Thy will he has won the blessing he desires. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our strength and our portion. Amen.
