Jesus, we ask and agree for fellowship with the Father and You in the Holy Spirit, 2 Cor 13:14, 1 Jn 1:2-4, bold, loving & accurate preaching of The Gospel, and attesting miracles, Acts 14:3. Confirm Your Word by The Holy Spirit that You suffered, died for our sins, rose and ascended to Messiah, The Lord's True Anointed, Mark 16:20, John 20:30-31, Acts 2:22, Acts 4:29-30, Rom 15:18-19, You ascended on High and gave gifts to humanity, Eph 4:10-11, 1 Cor 12:9-10. Help us get our lives and message correct, 1 Tim 4:16, and confirm the Word with gifts, signs and wonders, as it is written, "This salvation was first announced by the Lord, was then confirmed to us by those who heard Him, 4 and was affirmed by God through signs, wonders, various using miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will," Heb 2:3-4.

1 Corinthians 12:4-12, "There are different gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are different ministries, but the same Lord. 6 There are different ways of working, but the same God works all things in all people. 7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in various tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, who apportions them to each one as He determines. 12 The body is a unit, though it is composed of many parts. And although its parts are many, they all form one body. So it is with Christ."

Thank You for the promises: relationship with You, Jesus, Rev 3:19-20, for protection, Ps 91:11-12, forgiveness, healing, redemption, loving-kindness and tender-mercies, renewing our youth as the eagle's, Ps 103:1-5, keeping us from sin, lies and fear, Zeph 3:13, and temptation, Luke 11:4, Matt 6:13, dangers of many kinds including false believers, 2 Cor 11:26, pride, Ps 36:11, and the evil one, John 17:15. We don't even want nor need "greater works since You have gone to The Father," John 14:12, we'll be quite content to just be like our Master, Matt 10:24-25, nevertheless not our will but Yours be done, Luke 22:42. We join together with you in this beautiful and biblically grounded request and we say amen to your desire for both the fruit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit to be evident in our lives and in the body of Christ.

We love how you have asked first for the fruit of the Spirit, for humility yet boldness, for holiness and for loving teams. This is the right order, for character must undergird power. As it is written, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23. And we are reminded to watch ourselves closely, Pay attention to yourself and to your teaching. Continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you. 1 Timothy 4:16. We agree with you that God would help us get our lives and our message correct, that our preaching would be both bold and loving and accurate.

We also agree with you for the bold preaching of the gospel with attesting signs and wonders, not for our glory but to confirm that Jesus suffered, died for our sins, rose and ascended as Messiah, the Lord's true Anointed. We pray together as the early church prayed, Now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant to your servants to speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of your holy Servant Jesus. Acts 4:29-30. And we remember the promise, They went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word by the signs that followed. Mark 16:20. We also cling to the truth that this great salvation was announced first through the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard, God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders, by various works of power, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will. Hebrews 2:3-4.

We affirm with you the beautiful unity and diversity of the Spirit's work, Now there are various kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are various kinds of service, and the same Lord. There are various kinds of workings, but the same God who works all things in all. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the profit of all. 1 Corinthians 12:4-7. And we thank God that all these workings are of one and the same Spirit, who distributes to each one individually as he desires. 1 Corinthians 12:11. So we do not demand gifts on our terms, but we humbly ask according to His will, trusting His wisdom to apportion what is needed for the common good and for the building up of the body, which though it has many parts is one body in Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12.

We rejoice that you have asked all of this in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him we have fellowship with the Father in the Holy Spirit. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, God's love, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14. And Whatever you will ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it. John 14:13-14.

So together we pray.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we come before Your throne of grace with thanksgiving. We ask for deep fellowship with You and with Jesus in the Holy Spirit. Fill us anew, form the fruit of the Spirit in us in full measure, make us holy as You are holy, humble yet bold to speak Your word without fear and with great love. Raise up holy, loving teams to preach the gospel faithfully. Confirm Your Word with the power of the Holy Spirit, with signs, wonders, various miracles and gifts as You will, that people may know that Jesus truly died for our sins, rose from the dead, and is ascended on high and has given gifts to Your people. Ephesians 4:10-11. Grant us authority over demons through the finger of God as Jesus demonstrated, Luke 11:20, and keep us from pride, from sin, from lies and fear, and from the evil one. John 17:15. Guard us from temptation, Matthew 6:13, and from every danger, and keep our hearts content to be like our Master, Matthew 10:24-25, saying not our will but Yours be done. Luke 22:42. We thank You in advance by faith, Mark 11:24, for You reward those who diligently seek You. Hebrews 11:6. Let Your peace that surpasses all understanding guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus as we make our requests known to You with thanksgiving. Philippians 4:6-7. We bless You for all Your benefits, who forgives all our sins, heals all our diseases, redeems our lives from destruction, crowns us with loving kindness and tender mercies, and renews our youth like the eagle's. Psalm 103:2-5. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, our Lord and Messiah, Amen.

We hear so clearly in your prayer a desire for closeness with the Father and with Jesus through the Holy Spirit, and for teams marked by both humility and holy boldness. That longing for character and for God to work through you to make Jesus known is beautiful, and we join you in it.

We have found it helpful to remember that the Spirit forms us in three ways that belong together: His fruit shaping our character into love, joy, peace and the rest, His truth grounding us in Scripture, and His power and gifts equipping us for ministry to others. Held together, truth keeps power from drifting, love keeps power from becoming harsh, and power keeps love active. It is a gentle safeguard as you seek both to be faithful in life and message and to see God confirm His Word as He wills.

A practical step that many find steadying is to walk this out with a few trusted believers. Meeting regularly to pray, to search the Word together, and to honestly encourage one another in both character and gifting creates space for the Spirit to mature you over time, not just in moments.

Father, we thank You for Your nearness and for Your grace at work in each person praying this. Deepen their fellowship with You, form Your fruit in them, keep them in Your truth, and in Your sovereign wisdom work through them to lift up Jesus. We trust Your will and Your timing, and ask for Your peace to guard them. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your petition for the fruit of the Spirit and for humble, bold, holy and loving labourers in the gospel is one in which we most heartily join, and we have taken it before the Lord with thanksgiving.

You ask aright when you put the fruit before the gifts. The fruit of the Spirit is one, though it has many graces, and the first of these is love, and with it joy. As we have often taught, despondency is not the fruit of the Spirit, nor is harshness or pride, but love and joy and peace which come from the Spirit abiding in the soul as a tree abides in the soil to bring forth fruit in due season. How sweet is that fruit, and how it glorifies Christ. If a team of preachers be not loving and holy, their boldness will be but noise, and their wonders, if they had them, would not commend the gospel. Seek first that the Holy Spirit make you holy, for a holy man is the workmanship of the Holy Spirit, and without holiness no man shall see the Lord nor rightly commend Him to others.

You pray also for boldness in preaching and for the Lord to stretch forth His hand to heal and to confirm His Word with signs following, according to Acts 4:29 and 30, and Mark 16:20 and Hebrews 2:3 and 4. This we also desire, but with entire dependence upon the Holy Spirit and with this remembrance, that the Holy Spirit glorifies Christ. He receiveth of the things of Christ and showeth them unto us. He doth not come to glorify our teams or our experiences, but to make Christ precious and to seal the Word which testifies that Jesus suffered, died for our sins, rose and ascended to be Lord and Messiah. We always need the Spirit of God in our preaching, for without Him there is no life nor force nor power, though the sermon be well ordered. Only when the Holy Spirit comes is there any true conversion, for until He visits men they are dead in trespasses and sins. Therefore pray not only for gifts, but to be kept in fellowship with the Father and the Son through the Spirit, and to be taught by Him, for the Spirit alone can teach you, and those who will not be taught of Him remain foolish.

And take heed that you grieve not the Holy Spirit, as it is written, Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed. He is grieved by unholiness of life, when Christian men walk not according to the gospel, and He is exceedingly grieved by our unbelief. The little narrow heart of man the Holy Spirit has made His palace, though it be but a cottage, and shall we vex so kind a Guest by harbouring sin, or by doubting the promise of God who has said He will keep us from evil and deliver us from temptation and pride and the evil one. If the seal be torn away by our grieving Him, our assurance and our usefulness will wither. Rather honour Him, confess your dependence upon Him before you preach, pray in the Holy Spirit and through the Holy Spirit, for He is willing to help you to pray and to tell you how to pray when you know not what to ask.

Concerning the gifts of which you speak from 1 Corinthians 12, that there are diversities of gifts but the same Spirit who divideth to every man severally as He will, we entreat the Lord to bestow them for the common good as it pleaseth Him, not as we demand. We do not command the Spirit as a servant, but we wait upon Him as a Lord. Your prayer is wise in saying, not our will but Thine be done, and that you would be content to be as your Master. That is the humble and bold posture we would keep. Ask for the message of wisdom and knowledge, for faith, for healing and miracles and prophecy and discerning of spirits as He determines, yet ever covet most the more excellent way of love, and labour to get your lives and your doctrine right, as Paul exhorts Timothy, for there the power lies.

We now pray for you.

O Lord our God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one God, we thank Thee for the redemption that is in Christ Jesus and for the forgiveness and healing and lovingkindness with which Thou crownest Thy people. We ask Thee to cause the fruit of the Spirit to abound in these Thy servants, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. Make them humble and yet bold to speak Thy Word, holy and loving in all their fellowship. Grant them to preach Christ crucified and risen with accuracy and love, and work with them confirming the Word as Thou seest fit, by signs and wonders and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to Thy will, that men may know that Jesus is Lord. Keep them from sin and lies and fear and pride, and from the evil one, and keep them from unbelief which grieves Thy Spirit. Pour out Thy Spirit upon them and upon those that hear them, awaken the mental powers and quicken the dead soul, and glorify Christ in every place where Thy Word is proclaimed. This we ask in the name of Jesus, who ascended on high and gave gifts unto men, trusting that Thou hearest us, and desiring Thy will above all. Amen.

We join you in this prayer and thank God for your hunger to walk in the fruit of the Spirit and to see His Word preached with clarity and love. Your request for humble yet bold and holy teams who preach Christ faithfully reflects what God desires, that our lives and our message would be kept correct, as Paul urged Timothy, so that both we and those who hear may be saved.

Scripture teaches that love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control are the fruit of the Spirit, and that boldness itself is a gift of grace. The apostles prayed, grant to your servants to speak your word with all boldness, and the Lord answered them. That boldness was not from their own strength or learning, for they were ordinary men, but from the Holy Spirit who made their ignorance and even their chains serve the advance of the gospel. So we pray with you that God would keep you humble before Him and bold before people, not lifted up by any gift or honor, but confident in Christ alone.

You have also asked that God would confirm His Word with signs, wonders and gifts of healing and miracles. The Scriptures show that God did bear witness to the message of salvation, first announced by the Lord and then confirmed by those who heard Him, with signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will. And it is written that they went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed His word by the signs that accompanied it. In the same way Paul could say he would not dare to speak of anything except what Christ had accomplished through him, by word and deed, through mighty signs and wonders by the power of the Spirit, so that the gospel was fully preached.

We must remember that these gifts are given as the Spirit determines, for the common good and the building up of the body, not for display. There are different gifts but the same Spirit, different ministries but the same Lord, and He apportions to each one as He wills. And we are warned that not every wonder is from God, for there will be false christs and false prophets who show signs and lying wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect, working by the power of the enemy among those who are perishing. Therefore we ask with you for discernment, for the distinguishing of spirits, and for a love of the truth that keeps us from being led astray.

So we pray now for you and for all who labor with you:

Father, grant fellowship with You and with Your Son Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit. Grant that Your Word would be preached accurately and lovingly, and that lives would be formed to match the message. Give wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, prophecy and every gift as You will, for the common good and for the confirmation that Jesus suffered, died for our sins, rose and ascended as Lord and Messiah. Keep Your servants from pride, from fear, from sin and from the schemes of the evil one. Protect them from temptation and from false teaching, and guard them in Your truth. Make them content to be like their Master, seeking not their own will but Yours, and trusting that You will work according to Your perfect will.
