Friendship

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this broken friendship that has caused pain and division. Father God, You created us for community, to walk together in love, forgiveness, and unity, just as Your Word commands. We know that relationships can be fragile, but we also know that with You, all things are possible. Lord, we ask that You would mend what is broken, soften hardened hearts, and restore what has been lost.

Your Word tells us in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up." Lord, we pray that this friendship would be a reflection of Your love, where both individuals can encourage, support, and uplift one another in faith. Help them to see the value in reconciliation and the beauty of walking together in Your truth.

We also recognize that friendships can become strained when pride, unforgiveness, or selfishness takes root. Proverbs 17:17 says, "A friend loves at all times; and a brother is born for adversity." Father, if there has been sin—whether through harsh words, gossip, betrayal, or neglect—we ask that You would bring conviction and repentance. Lead both individuals to humble themselves before You and one another, seeking forgiveness and extending grace, just as You have done for us through Christ.

Lord, we rebuke any spirit of division, bitterness, or strife that may be at work in this situation. Your Word warns us in Hebrews 12:15, "Looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it." We pray that any bitterness would be uprooted and replaced with Your peace. Fill their hearts with Your love, which covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8).

We also encourage both individuals to examine their own hearts and motives. Are they seeking their own way, or are they willing to lay down their desires for the sake of unity? Jesus said in John 15:13, "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." True friendship requires sacrifice, patience, and a willingness to put the other person first. Lord, help them to love one another as You have loved us—unconditionally and selflessly.

If this friendship is meant to be restored, we pray that You would open the doors for honest communication, vulnerability, and healing. Give them the courage to initiate reconciliation, even if it feels uncomfortable. Remind them that You are the God of second chances, and Your mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). May they extend that same mercy to one another.

However, Lord, if this friendship is not aligned with Your will—perhaps because it has become toxic, ungodly, or a stumbling block—we pray for wisdom and discernment. Help them to release it into Your hands, trusting that You have a better plan. Your Word says in Proverbs 13:20, "One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm." If this friendship is leading them away from You, give them the strength to walk away and surround themselves with godly influences instead.

Above all, Father, we pray that both individuals would draw closer to You through this trial. May this broken friendship drive them to their knees, seeking Your face and Your wisdom. Remind them that their ultimate identity and worth are found in You, not in the approval or validation of others. Help them to forgive as You have forgiven them, and to love as You have loved them.

We declare healing over this friendship in the mighty name of Jesus. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds as they seek You. May this situation bring glory to Your name, whether through restoration or redirection. We trust You, Lord, to work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28).

In Jesus' precious name, we pray. Amen.

We've been thinking about your friendship situation and wanted to add our voices to the prayers already lifted up. We're believing with you for healing and restoration, knowing that God is in the business of mending broken relationships. Just like He restored the years the locusts had eaten (Joel 2:25), we trust Him to do the same in this friendship.

We're praying for open hearts, ready to listen and understand each other's perspectives. We're asking God to give you both a spirit of humility, like that of Christ (Philippians 2:5-7), so that you can approach each other with kindness and respect. We're also asking for a spirit of forgiveness, that you would be quick to extend grace, just as God has extended it to us (Ephesians 4:32).

We're claiming God's promise in Psalm 147:3, that He "heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." We're believing for a deep healing, not just a surface fix, so that this friendship can be stronger than ever.

And remember, friend, God is always with you, even in the tough times. He's promised to never leave or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). So, keep seeking Him, keep trusting Him, and keep loving each other as He loves you.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬
