Do Not Sin Against the Child
A Passion for Souls
The Unrivalled Friend
We join with you in bringing your son before the Lord and we thank God for his young faith and his desire for fellowship with other children. We understand the tender heart of a parent who sees an only child longing for companionship, and we know our heavenly Father sees him too and cares deeply for him.

We rejoice that you describe him as a strong believer in God, and we want to gently encourage you in this. Scripture teaches us that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and also There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 We pray that his faith is firmly rooted in Jesus as Lord and Savior, for that is the foundation of every other blessing, including godly friendships. If he has not yet put his full trust in Jesus Christ, we encourage you to lead him to do so, and if he has, we praise God and pray his faith will continue to grow strong.

The desire for good friends from families who love God is a beautiful and biblical desire. We are not meant to walk alone. The Lord shows us the importance of companions, Don't be deceived. Evil companionships corrupt good morals. 1 Corinthians 15:33 and He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm. Proverbs 13:20 For a child, friendships help shape character and faith, and we pray God will surround him with peers who will encourage him to love and follow Jesus. We also remember that children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward. Psalm 127:3 and Jesus said, Allow the little children to come to me, and don't forbid them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these. Matthew 19:14 Your son is precious in God's sight, and He delights in providing for his needs, including fellowship.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we thank You for this precious son You have entrusted to this family. We thank You for his faith and his tender heart that desires friendship. Lord, we ask that You provide for him godly friends from families who love You and walk in Your truth, friends who will encourage him, sharpen him, and help him grow in Christ. Lead this family to a place of strong Christian fellowship where he can be nurtured, whether in a faithful church, a Bible believing community, or other gatherings of believers, so that he will not forsake assembling together with Your people. Hebrews 10:25 We ask that You guard his heart from harmful influences and draw him close to companions who are wise and kind. Give his parents wisdom and peace as they guide him, and let them see Your hand providing abundantly. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek out regular fellowship with other believing families, to be active in a local church where the Word of God is taught faithfully, and to pray with your son that God will bring the right friends in His perfect timing. Trust that God hears this prayer and that He who has begun a good work in your son will be faithful to complete it and to provide for every need, including the gift of friendship.

We hear your love for your son in this, and we are praying with you for him. It is such a sweet thing that he loves God and simply wants other kids to play and laugh with. Wanting good, steady friendships is a good and natural desire, and we understand how tender it can feel as a parent to watch an only child wait for that.

Friendships for children often grow not all at once, but through seeing the same faces again and again. Being in the same place regularly, getting to talk and share a little of themselves, and finding others who love the same things, especially a shared love for the Lord, helps those bonds form over time.

If you have a church family, it can help to let his Sunday school teacher or children's ministry leader know what you shared here, that he is hoping for friends from families who walk with God. They often know which families have children near his age and when they gather outside Sunday morning. Even one simple, consistent connection, like inviting one family over to play after church or on the same afternoon each week, can give friendship room to grow.

We are carrying him and you before the Lord with care.

Father, we lift this dear boy to You and thank You for his faith and his kind heart. You see his desire for companionship. We ask You to gently lead him to good friendships and to lead those families to him in Your timing, and to keep him encouraged and confident in Your love while he waits. Give his parents wisdom and peace as they guide him. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your request and we join with you in bringing your son before the throne of grace. It is a tender thing to see a young heart that loves the Lord and longs for fellowship with others who love Him too, and the Lord Himself marks that desire.

You are right to seek for him companions from families that fear God. What Jesus loves, the renewed child loves, and what Jesus seeks, he seeks. True friendship is found not merely in age or play, but in harmony of heart toward Christ, when two walk together in the same love for the Saviour and the same hatred for sin. We pray that the Lord, who has planted faith in your son, will now provide for him that sweet godly society which so refreshes the pilgrim way.

We know something of the loneliness which sometimes falls upon the child of God when gracious company is scarce. Even our Saviour knew what it was to be left alone, and He understands the quiet ache of a solitary heart. Yet He is Himself the friend who is never absent, and He delights to give earthly friends who will help your son to climb higher and to stand more firmly for Christ.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, we thank You for this only child whom You have called to trust in Jesus only, for apart from Him there is no salvation and no way to the Father. We thank You for his simple faith and his desire for pure and wholesome fellowship. Father, in Your mercy provide for him good friends, boys and girls from households where Your Word is honored and where Christ is Lord in every room and every hour. Keep him from companions who would lead him away from You, and knit his heart to those who will love Your truth, speak of Your grace, and walk in Your fear. Make him also to be such a friend to others, deferential and obedient before You, and joyful in doing what is consistent with dutiful allegiance to his heavenly Father. Give to his parents wisdom to guide him and comfort in seeing him upheld by Your hand. We wait only upon You, for our expectation is from You, and we ask this in the name of Jesus Christ alone, our only door and only hope. Amen.
